Misdiagnosis With Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Hi just wondering if any of you were misdiagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma before they got it right and proclaimed it lymphoma. My husband has all the symptoms of lymphoma - night sweats, unexplained fevers, lack of appetite, fatique, back pain - but they are saying his biopsy is showing Scc (which is head or neck cancer) He has no symtoms of head or neck. Just the big lump on his neck (swollen lymph nodes). We will be getting another biopsy next week. But just wondering if anyone out there experienced a misdiagnosis? Nancy

Neck Lump

I`m not sure how we would know if we were misdaignosed, but I do know we all have the lump in the neck in common. They are different sizes, but we all had them.

I was wondering if anyone was told they had squamous cell carcinoma and later found out they had lymphoma. I guess I should have posted this to the lymphoma site huh? Have a blessed holiday season. Miracles for all!

Misdiagnosis With Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Nancy
I had squamous cell carcinoma of my tonsil and I had 3 biopsies taken it came back positive for squamous cell. Mine had metastisized to my neck and I had a lump. That was the only sign I had was the lump in my neck. I didn't have any sore throat or signs of difficult swallowing. No night sweats, fatigue. I had this lump for about 6 months before I saw a doctor. He said it started in my tonsil (left only) I ask my doctor if he was sure if it wasn't lymphoma and he said yes. He said that is why I sent it to Mayo Clinic to make sure I got the right diagnosis. He made a good call on my behalf. Good Luck and God Bless.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Thanks for your reply. My husband does not have his tonsils but I understand it can start where your tonsils once were as there are still "tonsil cells" there. He's had his lump for about 6 months now too. I'm going to ask if they sent the biopsy out for evaluation. We see the ENT on Wednesday and the Oncologist on Tuesday to get results of Pet and CT. I hope it went to his neck only and did not move from there. He feels so awful - I don't know what's cancer and what's fear? I pray that's the last you'll ever see of your monster. Pray for us.
