Sutent and Strokes

My Mother has rcc and is on her 2nd cycle of sutent. She has had the typical sore mouth and gums, but also had the not so common side effect of a bloody nose and anemia. On her 3rd week of her 1st cycle, she had a stroke (TIA) and recovered after one hour. This is the 3rd week again of her 2nd cycle and she has had a true stroke this time. Occupational therapy said it could be a while before and if she returns to her normal self. Has anyone else had similar issues with sutent? The doctors say that it is unrelated to the drug, but it seems too coincidental. Any help or response will greatly help our family decide whether or not to keep her on this medication.
