Kathryn,I was diagnosed with stage IV cancer of the tongue that had spread to my lymph nodes in September 2004. I had surgery followed by radiaiton and chemo. And so far so good. I have had testing done every 3 months and so far I am clear of cancer .Sue

Please read all material you can get your hands on regarding IV Vitamin C therapy as an alternative or adjunct treatment to chemo. There is currently clinical safety trials going on showing some promising results. It would certainly be worth a try.

I have been using alternative therapy for my cancer for over two and a half years and have never felt healthier in my life. When I was diagnosed in May 2004 with non Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancerous lymph node on the heart and a large mass in my chest which had caused the partial collapse of my right lung, the onc I was referred to told me I would need the strongest chemo available in order to "perhaps" save myself.
Instead, I did lots of research and opted for an alternative path. I follow a regimen for detoxification and regeneration which I will gladly supply free of charge for anyone interested.

In actuality, there are many many people flocking to the doors of reputable alternative clinics. If you look up the statistics, over 60% of Americans and about the same percentage of Canadians are using alternative medicine for many conditions. There is a worlwide movement towards this modality and other modalities as well one very important one being the mind/body connection.

Anyone interested in doing their own research on this subject should feel free to contact me and I can supply you with some very informative websites.

There is ALWAYS hope!

I am a stage IV survivor. I had colon cancer with mets to the liver. By my initial Dr.'s I was told I could die at any minute and could live for 18 months with surgery. I kept doing research and looked for good Dr.'s.My new Dr.'s said although stage IV is bad, they thought they could cure me. I could not believe I was that sick, when I seemed so healthy. Even after my annual physical, I was told I was healthy. It was a total fluke that I even had a colonoscopy. I was diagnosed in July of '04, I finished my chemo in June of '05 and am doing quite well. I started off with dismal odds of 5% chance of survival, up to 80%. I'm cancer free and extremely greatful.

Hi Kathryn,My husband is a Stage IV survivor -- he was originally diagnosed (in June 2005) with Stage III Colon cancer, but it was discovered during the colon resection that he was a Stage IV -- he underwent 12 rounds of Folfox/5FU and Avastain then had the liver resection in April 2006. He has been cancer-free since then -- All of his blood work has shown CEA levels in normal range and next month he starts with the scans (we're just a little nervous)We also did nutrional/vitamin supplements as well (we had his oncologist's okay on everything he was taking)Survivors are out there -- don't ever give up hope -- you just may have to fight for what you want and even go to a different doctor.God Bless -- I will keep you & your friend in my prayers.Lori

Oasis of Hope in Mexico or Gerson Therapy. My wife has stage three breast cancer, she will be going to Gerson Center on Big Island, Hawaii for two week treatment from end of this month.
she has kept it under control for two years with strict diet and supplements. she started taking arimidex 6 months ago with no side effects so far. her CA15-3 marker doubled from 15.9 to 34.9 recently along with tumor flattening out. all other markers remain stable indicating to her oncologist that the cancer is dying. told her to keep doing whatever she is doing. we believe, the two week gerson treatment will finish the job.

There is a Dr. Burzynski in Houston,Texas. Web sight is cancermed.com.Doing some great things using a non toxic approach. Called antineoplastons. The mainstream medical community do not talk about him much. But he is presently in stage 3 clinical trails with this drug. He is someone who really cares. It would be worth your time to at least check him out. The Burzynski Clinic @ 713-335-5697

SO, here is where I say it all depends on the specific cancer, and the person. Cancer is a personal disease, and what workd a miracle for one will fail for another. All that we have are statistics to go by, but the good news is that stats do not account for the unexplainable remissions that occur. I would encourage you to explore every option including homeopathic medicine, and medicine outside of this country, such as in the UK. They are making great strides with experimental therapies that are not permitted here in this country because of politics. Don't give up, fight the good fight, and know that you are not alone, There are some major universities that so have great experimental treatments, so I would check out Johns Hopkins in Baltimore Maryland, and Duke University In North Carolina.Thoughts and PrayersShawna

Thanks for your email. What sort of cancer did/do you have?
Mark has rectal cancer that has spread to the liver and lungs.
The doctors have pretty much given up only offering dangerous
trials. I'm working hard to find
a treatment that works for rectal cancer. Been reading about
hyperthermia - don't know if he's a candidate for that. Ozone
therapy sounds promising but is not offered in this country.
I called MD Anderson and they told me not to bother sending Mark,s
records - there was nothing they could do for him that has not already
been done. Pretty dismal but I described all that he's taken,
pretty much all the chemo that they are using for rectal patients these
days, and that is all they had to say. I am on a mission to find
a good oncologist here (so far all Mark has seen are Fellows at the
County Hospital) that does cutting edge treatments such as vaccine
therapy, hyperthermia, etc. Thanks again for your response. Kathryn

Please take a look at this website. I personally know of several people who have been "cured" using this treatment and I personally have just been tested to see if I am a candidate for it. It is not offered at least here in Canada by traditional medicine but is available through some alternative clinics. My oncologist has told me there is very positive anecdotal evidence regarding this treatment . It is not at all harmful so certainly worth a try.
I feel very fortunate to have found a medical doctor who is also trained in the alternative field. He uses alternative treatments first and only the more destructive traditional treatments as a last resort. He took the oath "First do no harm" and works hard to follow that oath.

She has two tumors on her liver and some spots on her lungs. She is supposed to start the folfox regimen which consists of bevacizummab ( Avastin) oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil (5FU) and leucovorin. The oncologist just sent her info regarding a clinical study that she can participate in. If she does agree, she would receive a regimen called FOLF-CB which would be similar except the oxaliplatin would come out and be replaced with cetuximab (Erbitux). I was wondering if anyone has had this regimen or knows of any positive outcomes with Erbitux. Thanks very much,EB

Hi Jim, It's so nice to meet you. When were you diagnosed? Do you know who your liver surgeon is? I started off as stage IV with mets to the liver. So I had several options. I could have both surgeries at the same time or I could have my colon surgery, wait a month to heal, and then have my liver surgery with an HAI pump inserted to put chemo directly into my pump. I chose to go with the pump. Unfortunately, Dr. Rothenburger was out when I came in, so I had Dr. Kelli Bullard do my colon surgery. I thought that since she trained under Dr. Rothenbuger, and the same team would be in the operating room that I would be okay. I had my colon surgery on August 13, 2004. Yes, it was Friday the 13th. I was somewhat creeped out, but they told me it's the best day for surgery, since most people don't want in then. It was important for my treatment, that I recover and have my liver surgery and HAI pump inserted exactly 4 weeks later. I had my liver surgery by Dr. Todd Tuttle on September 13th, 2004. I had some complications and was able to start my chemo by the end of the year. I had my last chemo in June of '05. So far, no evidence of disease. Your liver regenerates, and mine has grown back to 95% of it's previous size. After the liver surgery, it was important for me to eat as much protein as possible. So I had eggs, bacon and sausage every morning. I always take a tape recorder in with me and record all of their answers. They were all quite comfortable with me doing this.Since I didn't have a chance to be with Dr. Rothenburger, I would be curious to know about your experience with him. Let me know how I can be of help.

Dear Shemay, please contact me with the alternative therapy treatment protocol and relevant websites. I have stage IV inflammatory breast cancer and I am truly frightened. Thank you so much. On 12/15/2006 Shemay wrote:I have been using alternative therapy for my cancer for over two and a half years and have never felt healthier in my life.

Kathryn,As a response to Morgan's email, I say "Be careful". Alternative therapies are dubious. They can point to a few survivors, but so can conventional medicine. Most alternative clinics are just out for your money. If they could cure even 5% of stage IV cancers, there would be a stampede to get into their clinic.Look hard at their claims. Look hard at the condition of your friend. I hope you can find a cure. Your friend is lucky to have you.Rick

My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer two years ago.He is now cancer free.He had a hemoglobin of 4 when he was admitted to roswell park hospital in Buffalo,ny.He went through a trial for some new drugs. They were absolutely wonderful there. The tumor was so large he only had a pin hole for any fecal material to pass.He had chemo, radiation, surgery and more chemo. He did not have any lymph node involvement when they did the surgery. This we think was a miracle in itself.WE have alot of faith and feel that is why he did so well.I encourage you to believe you will get well and do everything the doctors tell you to do,he did. Also while he went through chemo he took a vitamin that had three differnent mushrooms in it that was supossed to attack the tumor. The doctors said this was ok.We know God healed my husband but He used prayer and doctors to do it.Believe you will be healed. zeph314

Kathryn, Im sorry for your situation. My wife is stage 4 rectal cancer with 2 mets to lungs. She is on Xeloda and 4 herb tea (essiac), for 2 weeks and will be until ct scan 1/09. A very good friend of mine had colon cancer with liver mets, and melanoma with mets to lungs. They gave him chemo, which did noy work and told him he has less than one year.A next door neighbor a nurse told him to get this tea, at last resort he did 6oz a day. He did this for three months, went back to his oncologist and had pet scan done. All tumors gone except for two in lungs which shrunk. His Dr. now considers him cancer free. I put my wife on it because I personally have proof it works. He is now cancer free 5 years. Go to this website: herbalhealer.com and click on 4herb tea. My wife is being treated at Sloan Kettering in NYC, one of the best. Our oncologist we asked about the tea,he said; Get her on the tea asap. Please read up on essiac tea on any search engine, and good luck. Power of prayer also does wonders
