linked to ulcerative colitis

I just lost my Dad to bile duct cancer this week - 6 weeks after diagnosis - it was a huge shock and frighteningly fast.I have read somewhere there is a high risk of getting this most horrible of cancers if the patient has suffered from ulcerative colitis (which my Dad had dealt with since a young man - he was 71 when he passed away) Does anyone else know of any link or has lost a loved one the same way? Thanks - I have followed this message board during the short time my Dad was ill and have found it very helpful.
