CancerCompass message board discussion started by Georgelee on 12/20/2006 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,8372,0.htm Fri, 10 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT Fri, 10 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ I was wondering if anyone out there could help me.  I am thinking of taking Hydrazine Sulfate but am wondering what I can and cannot eat as there is a strict diet I must adhere to.  I have been to hundreds of websites but I still want to know if anyone can tell me what I can live off of, how long do you take HS.I have a very rare cancer, Angiosarcoma, I have prolonged my life no doubt by taking another alternative treatment called Protocel.  However, my condition is worsening.  It has migrated to the lungs and the tumors under my chin are now growing.  I fear that they may soon interfere with my esophagus.  So, can anyone out there help with this diet.  I must avoid any foods with tyramines, as they can elevate blood pressure.Thanks for any help.  George Georgelee Wed, 20 Dec 2006 00:00:00 GMT The mother of a friend of mine took hydrazine sulfate when she was being treated for Stage IIIB lung cancer.  She survived and is cancer-free about 9 years later.  She also had chemo and radiation, I believe, but from what I understand the hydrazine sulfate can work synergistically with other traditional treatments.  I believe her cancer was adenosarcoma, which is not the most common lung cancer type. I've done a lot of research on the hydrazine sulfate myself so I can answer your question.  In regard to the eating restrictions, this is because the hydrazine sulfate is related to monoamine oxidase inhibitors (which are an older type of antidepressant).  If you eat food with tyramines in it, these compounds can cause a sudden dangerous rise in blood pressure.  Foods containing tyramines include:  red wine, aged sausages and other meats, broad beans/fava beans, overripe bananas, and more.  You can find a full listing of these foods by searching on the internet for drugs such as Nardil or Parnate, which have the same restrictions.Another important thing about hydrazine sulfate is you must not take any antidepressants or tranquilizers or other sedating drugs when on it.  Apparently these drugs counteract the effects of hydrazine sulfate.  It's not that big a problem, however, since hydrazine sulfate itself has an antidepressive effect.I hope this helps.
