CancerCompass message board discussion started by Grabber78 on 12/22/2006 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,8395,0.htm Thu, 21 Aug 2008 00:00:00 GMT Thu, 21 Aug 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ My mom lost her leg 3 1/2 years to cancer...(it has been known as chondrosarcoma) but i think they also changed it, it is a type of sarcoma.....nothing can be done, except to physically remove the affected area and she does not want that..nor does she want to be on chemo, which is said to help slow it...as there is no cure....3 1/2 years ago i had her get a P.E.T scan at the facility i worked at (although sarcoma is known as a type of cancer to not show up on p.e.t scan) back then she has little masses in her lungs...one right near her heart....but like i said she refuses to do anything.....about a year ago her gyno wanted her to get a CT of the pelvis cause she felt a slight spot...my mom said size of a finger tip.....come to find out it back then was a size of a fist....we were told surgery would not be good as this might make her worse as it is not an easy procedure....plus the mass is fixed, and who knows what it is fixed on in the area it is, intestines, pelvis wall...ect.....this mass is on the same side as her leg was removed.... now she has been coughing for the past couple months and i am very worried as it seems to be getting worse......she now told me that she is coughong up blood in the form of clots...as she thinks it is clots she is coughing up....is that possible?? she has been tired and just not doing well.....as she is at the 3 1/2 mark.....which the doctors give you a 5 year life span......i am so worried as my mom is all i have as family....i want to help her, but she doesn't want to go to the doctors cause there is no cure.....i don.t blame her...but is there anything that can be done about the coughing up blood??? does anyone know anything about this disease and no how long it takes to move throughout the body....obviously she has it in her pelvis...and lungs......whether it is sarcoma, don't know......if anyone knows anything i would greatly appreciate it! thank you~ jess Grabber78 Fri, 22 Dec 2006 00:00:00 GMT
