My mother has mm & I have ?'s

I read a lot of articles on the web about mm, my mother is 64, we found out in May 04 that she had this type of cancer. To this date she has not experience any type of pain? I am confused because everything that I read talks about back pain, I question if this is actually mm. She had a skeletal CT and bone biop along with several blood test(this is when they "found the mm"). She also has Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, diabetes, and high blood pressure. She can't keep anything down, has loose stools, and for the last 4months has had 8units of blood. In 2004 she was told to have Stage 1-Type A MM. I am trying to understand all of this but things are so cloudy. Can you give some insight?

RE: My mother has mm & I have ?'s

HI Gee, I have what is called Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia, which they thought at first it was MM, the only way they could tell the difference was through a bone marrow aspiration, I had all the blood work, the scans, bone scans, you name it, lol,and a bone density scan, they also found out I had diverticulosis, this causes the stools to be very loose, have they checked this? The treatment I am taking is Rituxan, and this has worked wonders for me! All my blood work has been normal since they started this treatments, this has ben 2 years ago! I have gone from 134 pounds to 184! I can tell you, the first thing my Onc told me is ......have a positive attitude, a smile on your face and your faith in God! I have not changed my lifestyle at all, at first I was scared to peices, as they said there is no cure for this, but with the help of a wonderful support group and prayer board, I am really doing great mentally, they give me so much support, it is unreal, we laugh, cry and pray together,we have another lady on there, her daughter has MM, and we have many survivors that encourage others, I would love to have you visit us, www.allin1accord.com, the user name is praise and the PW is love, please come visit, as I am sure there are many there that will give you the support you need right now, I will be praying for you and your mother, but never give up hope, that is so important, I hope we see you there, we have some really wonderful people there, we are more like a family and really care about eachother! God bless you both, Pat
