Strange PET scan results

I'll try to keep this shorter since the longer versions are in the Lymphoma and Ovarian Cancer area. After have a biopsy on a right thyroid nodule (it came back abnormal and detected lymphoma), and after having a CT scan which detected scarring in that area, I had a PET scan performed. When I got the results back, the doctors were as shocked as I.My thyroid came back negative.But...both my ovaries were really glowing.Shocking because I was expecting thyroid results...not so shocking because I've had problems for YEARS with my ovaries and the whole area down there (supposed IBS, interstitial cystitis, back pain, cramping that doesn't go away even when my period is over, bloating, etc.,)I am having a thyroidectomy (partial at first, fully if the Lymphoma is definitely there), because they take the biopsy results and CT scan results and the fact that the nodule has become bigger and the area swollen, more seriously. However, the oncologist seemed to brush the results of the PET scan on my ovaries away. "You were probably menstruating." When I told him I wasn't...not even close, he told me to have an ultrasound. I did. Know masses could be detected, but my right ovary was double the size of my left (though just withing range of normal size), and there was a significant amount of free fluid in the uterus, especially around the ovary.I've decided to have a laparoscopy done since my mother and grandmother had endometriosis, and cancer runs rampant on her side of the family.Has anyone else had strange PET scans like that? Looking for one thing, finding another? If so, what was done for it?

RE: Strange PET scan results

yeh, in january i had a biopsy that showed recurrent metastatic thyroid cancer in in lymph node but my pet highlighted both that side of my neck and my groin...they blew the groin off too and recently nothing showed up even though a biopsy reported cancer back in the same area of the neck....i don't believe pet scans.
