I am a new caregiver

My fiance was diagnosised 3 weeks ago with metastic keratinizing
squamous cell carcinoma after many endoscopies and ct scans we were
informed yesterday the doctors cannot find the primary site.He has
been very depressed talking about death all the time. I am
getting so frustrated adn don't know how to help him any longer.
He has called off our wedding and doesn't want to get married until he
is in remission. He also keeps pushing me away.. After searching the
internet i haven't found anything good out about this diagnosis.
January 19 he is having a neck dissection with chomo - radiation
therapy afterwords. He keeps saying he can't go through the chemo..Does
anybody have any advise on how i should handle the situation or
suggestions to use to make him more positive? The doctor said he is a
stage 2, with a survival rate of 60%. But everything i've read states
otherwise? I keep telling him he has to be positive that we will kick
this thing and continue on with our future plans and dreams. But the
cancer has been consuming our life. I've had him talk to other cancer
survivors with the same diagnosis and he said that made him more
depressed because of the treatment he has to go through. I am so
overwhelmed with all the information i've read. Does anybody have any
suggestions or positive thoughts. I do not want to lose him..He is 55
and i am 50 so were no spring chickens.Thank you so very muchKarol

RE: I am a new caregiver

As a caregiver of a late cancer patient all I can say as that his attitude is important to his fight and recovery of this cancer. Don't stop trying with him and 50 isn't old so tell him to shape up and give it the good fightn. My Dustin was 30 yrs when he passed Friday Feb 2, 07 and we gave it the good fight and would advise anyone young or old to fight it will all you have and believe that Jesus works miracles. I work in a bed and breakfast across from cancer treatment centers of america and I can not begin to say how many miracle stories I have heard. Just one for example a woman I know had her liver 70% full of tumors and this was her second bout with cancer goes to have her pet scans and the cancer dissappeared. I also have had the blessing to be touched by the holy spirit by a man that had pancreatic cancer died and came back to life cancer free. So if that isn't a little inspiration then maybe someone else can help.
