Six Months?

Hi Everyone,
I guess I feel that I have to write about HOPE. I was diagnosed on May 12 with stage 4 nsclc. They told me that I had 6months at best to live. That was 9 months ago! I just had bone scans, CT's and a MRI done. There is no metastasis anywhere. I would like to say that I was a 2pk a day smoker. I quit immediately. I completely changed my diet...no sugar, white flour, white rice. Plenty of fresh veggies, cottage cheese and flax, etc. I also started taking a wonderful immune builder called Immpower (there are some great studies on this), I take coral calcium, ABM, and colloidal silver, and a very good vit and mineral supplement.

I went through 10.5 weeks of radiation for tumors in my neck and they are gone. I decided that chemo was not right for me. I am doing great! I am due for another chest CT this month and have lots of hope! I also have a supply of Hydrazine Sulphate on hand just in case. I have done a lot of research on this and would not be without it! I hope this info helps someone...it did me.

Judy,
That's good news...do you feel the immuno power helped you?? Did you notice any difference in taking it?? Also did your insurance co. cover this or was it an out of pocket expense???? You also mention a vitamin and mineral supplement, what type are you taking???

Good for you. Keep it up and don't let anyone take hope away from you. Please read my post and you will learn what can happen if you are not given hope and you put too much trust in what the doctors tell you. It is the one entitled "Questions you should ask and things you should know - I learned too late." Lillian

Judi, thanks for the uplifting message. You help us all to think if you can do it, so can I. Thanks for the tips on nutrition. My diet is similar to yours. No sugar - ever - even on Valentine's Day. Very low carbs. Lots of vegetables and protein. Exercise. Think positive. Laugh a lot. Stay away from negative people. I use the coral calcium, and I'm ready to check out Immpower. I'm having very good results.
May God continue to bless us all.

RE: Six Months?

That is too funny. I was told: (a) you have 6 weeks to live (b) we're going to stop all treatments and discharge you (c) go home and get your affairs in order. That was on August 6, 1997. Today is March 3, 2003. That was 6 years ago. I had bone mets and brain mets. I refused to give in to this disease. I chose to live. All men die, few really live. I embarked on eating right, taking vitamins and supplements (including selenium, vitamin C and E), eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. I went into complete remission. Four years later, to the day, I had a recurrence. It wasn't pretty, it was no picnic and I nearly died. I spent 38 days in a coma, intubated, transfused, and in complete isolation due to 2 antibiotic resistant hospital borne infections. But hey - I am here - writing this note. I can tell you one thing for sure - only God knows how long you have to live. So live. God Bless.

Sovani, I pray that you continue to be a cancer survivor in as good health as possible. Hoever, I'm curious about your vitamin/mineral supplement program. I was diagnosed with extensive stage small cell lung cancer in January and am currently undergoing chemo and also participating in a Glevec trial. I'm on a high antioxidant nutrition diet that includes lots of vegetables and grains. I've limited the fruits to minimize sugar entering my system.
Sovani, would you mind sharing what supplements and amounts you are currently using, especially to boost your immune system.

Good luck ...

Hi Caroline - I'd be happy to - but please check with your physician before using any vitamins and/or supplements since they may counteract or lessen the effect of your chemo agents.

I take daily doses of the following:

Centrum - "Performance" Multivitamin.
Vitamin C - 1,000 mg.
Vitamin E - 1,000 I.U.
Selenium - 200 mcg.
Cod Liver Oil - A & D Supplement.

I eat a normal balanced diet - normal for me is: lots of fruits, fish and vegetables. I drink lots of water, and green/black tea. I get plenty of rest. I don't worry. I laugh a lot. I enjoy life.

To Judi Ford

Greetings! I am Stage 3b adenocarcinoma. They gave me 8 months if I opted for no chemotherapy and here I sit typing to you almost 14 months later! You are so right! It can be done! Please tell me more about how you think Immpower and ABM have helped you. I'm sure I can find out about Immpower through the Net, but am unsure what ABM stands for. I am on a similar regiment to yours, staying away from White flour and sugars. Where do we eat? Fast food is no longer an option, eh? Let me know if you've any ideas...short of cooking and freezing individual quantities, I'm out of choices...also finding food is becoming unappetizing...are you having that problem? I have found Reiki to be very relaxing, even when I am mentally resistant to relaxation. Hope to hear from you!
