My husband was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in  May 2005.  He went to the doctor and they found that his liver function test were not normal. From there we went to have a ct scan then an mri and a ercp they had first told us it was gallstones in the duct . We then were sent to The Medical University of south Carolina in Charlston. We saw a GI  Dr.Adams he said it was also the gallstone from that he tried to remove the gallbladder 2 times and could not bwcause of inflamation. when he tried the second time he found out that it was cancer and gave my husband 6 months to 1 year to live with treatment.  but as a firm beleiver that miracles do happen I began doing the one thing I knew that would help That was praying.  about the time we thought we had no way out a dotor by the name of Nestor Esnaola took my husbands case.  my husband is only 47 years old.  the docor told us he beleived he could help if we would let him do surgery .We told him to have at it. with that my husband went through over 10 hours of surgery. 5 weeks in the hospital and 7weeks of recovery at home .   it has been a year and 7 months and he is cancer free.and doing well. Even back to work.  i thought that sharing this message would give all dealing with this Kind of cancer a little bit of hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  God Bless You All.                        Molly Hegad Sat, 27 Jan 2007 00:00:00 GMT Undoubtably it is nice to hear a good story on these message blogs and I am happy for you and your family. Unfortunately, most people diagnosed with this type of cancer are not candidates for surgery because of the lack of early detection. Please understand I am not trying to be negative, when I say you are very lucky! My father (49) just passed away from this cancer, after a late stage diagnosis and failed chemotherapy attempts and a lot of suffering and pain. For most people this diagnosis is a death sentence and I am glad to hear of one good story. We just found out and chemo is the only treatment available at this point... It is not doing well... ???
