CancerCompass message board discussion started by Anita23 on 1/30/2007 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,9224,0.htm Sun, 07 Sep 2008 00:00:00 GMT Sun, 07 Sep 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ hello, my name is anita and i do not have pancreatic cancer, but in feb of 2006 my pancreas was diagnosed as being diseased and calcafied with my bile duct being blocked.there has been two attempts to get a stint in my duct.both have failed they could not get the stint in my ducduct. after almost a year of severe pain and many other problems with digestion. my doctor feels my only solution  is going to be a whipple surgery, whichis scheduled for feb 28 2007. i am very scared and un-sure of what to expect. can someone help me withthis. i am healthy otherwise which i thank the lord forthat. i am 47 soon to be 48 with five grown boys and six grandchildren i have alot to live for. anyone that could help me would be much appreciated. havea blessed day and every one with pancreatic cancer my prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family.thanks anita    Anita23 Tue, 30 Jan 2007 00:00:00 GMT Count your blessings that you dont have PC.  In PC patients the Whipple is major surgery.  The pancreas, part of the stomach, intestine and gall bladder are removed and then everything is hooked back up.  It takes about a year to fully recover.  I assume you do not need this level of surgery, but that is a question for your surgeon.  It would be much easier if only the pancreas or even a portion of it had to be removed.  You would most likely need insulin and enzymes for the rest of your life. Oncrx Tue, 30 Jan 2007 00:00:00 GMT thank you for your wonderful thoughts on my condition. but my doctor told me my gall bladder and my bile ducts and the head of the pancreas will be removed and reattached to the upper intestine just like people with  cancer. i am already taking tons of enzymes every meal just to keep my bowels somewhat straight. i have a diseased pancreas which i guess is just about as bad as a cancerous one. my doctor feels confident since i am very healthy now that my recovery wont be to very long. i am praying that i will recover quickly. thank you so much anita Anita23 Wed, 07 Feb 2007 00:00:00 GMT My mom will just get a whiple surgery soon, I'm deaf , and i have read around here that  after those surgery they only surive 5 years  right?   but in other post i have seen  people living beyond that and even 18 years!!! and continuiing is that possible?  please i bed any information about this Best Regards David pipo2000 Mon, 03 Mar 2008 00:00:00 GMT
