Which treatment should be selected

Hi all, My father is suffering from liver cancer last month on 11.01.2006 his tumors in Seg.IV & VI were ablated by RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation) and now he is having tumor of around 2.3 cms in Seg. VII which has also spread in Seg. IV around 1.8 cms . Doctors are saying this time RFA is not possible as the tumor is very near to lungs . My questions are :1. Whether RFA is possible ?2. If not whether we should go for Therashpere treatment ( TARE ) of Chemoembolization (TACE) , his liver functions are elevated albumin < 3 & biliburin > 2.7 and is also having Hep. B and Liver Cirrhosis Please advice

Hi I can understand what is going on with you as we are
sailing in same boat. As regarding treatment of father earlier we had
decided for TACE after one session of RFA but he got some allery from
pre operation medicine so we have postponed the treatment and currently
he is trying some naturopathy treatments. Hoping for the best for both of us thanks & regards

When you are under aenesthetic the lung is inflated so difficult to get to the others. The top man at Kings College was not keen on TACE, he said it was not always successful + risk of drawing 'spores' back when the needle pulled out, unlike RFA necrosis is not instant with TACE.I/we opted for a laproscopic approach from the side where the cavity would be inflated allowin the liver to fall to the bottom where the work could bedone. Unfortunately it was found that another 3 tumours had appeared, so we went ahead with a laproscopic re-section of the right lobe.
