Esophageal cancer removal

Hi My dad was diagnosed in August.Had radiotherpy and Chemo and was told in Nov that it had gone.In Jan it had come back and was told he had two options...one palative care or the other surgery! Obviously he has taken the surgery route. On 1st March he is going to have the whole esophagus removed and his voice box removed.he has been told that he will have a breathing hole fitted. Can anyone give me some hope?

We are just beginning the battle. Will keep you in our prayers.Thank you so much for thinking of us...Dad had a pre op a week before his scheduled surgery and they found out that it had gone to his airways, so they couldnt operate! We all found this so hard to cope with, the hospital has put in a stent so that he can eat and after two lung infections he has now been sent home. His options now are very slim, he has been told that he has months to live and that they could give him some chemo which will make him ill and I think he will decide not to go down this route.I am sorry to give you this news, but if you are just starting this journey then my advise to you is question everything ,dont be fobbed off.If my dad had the op when first diagnosed in August his chances would be greater now.you are in my thoughtsAll my
