Hi Jeff, Thanks for your input. Interesting how doctors all have different approaches. I am thinking of paying for a PET scan at the two year mark this summer. Cancer is such random thing that I always wonder if and when it will invade my body again. My ENT and oncologist are all about scoping every three months at this point. Do you use any other online resources/sites for gathering information? Stay well, Linda

Hi Susan, I'm with you on the scans, thinking at least one a year is necessary to pick up on anything brewing elsewhere! Hope you are doing well, as I have returned to a pretty normal life and aprreciate every little thing on every single day . . . Linda

Hey Juulie, Thanks for the info. The Cancer Institute guidelines don't recommend scans, but I was sent on my way after treatment with the schedule of scans every six months -- and here I am at 18 months wondering what to do. I do have scopes every three months by two different doctors, but my worry is to monitor what's going on elsewhere in this body of mine! Linda

I am curious as to what follow up care each survivor is doing. My insurance only approved a CT scan with IV contrast and chest x-ray at the one year mark. Now, at 18 months, I am wondering if I should have another, then annually for years 2-5? What is the thought on the radiation from the scans? My thought is to have a PET at year 2, then ?? My oncologist is not recommending more scans since I am scoped every three m...

Decided to start the new year with a fly by the old message board and am thrilled to see lots of the names that guided me through the arduous treatment for BOT surgery and radiation. Thanks and blessings to ALL who take the time to help each poster with questions and feelings of helplessness. Linda

My old desert buddy . . . The good news is that you had the scan and possibly identified something suspicious. Did you have any symptoms that prompted the PET? Keep me in the loop about further diagnosis -- praying for your peace of mind and treatment. Why do our bodies betray us, just as we are ready to retire and play?? I am just over one year out of treatment and feeling human again, other than my strained voice ...

Mary, I am also in Arizona so have decided an occasional cold beer would be OK. It does make my mouth drier, so make sure to drink plenty of water too. Guiness, Boddington and Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout are all nitro beers, very creamy & smooth with little carbonation. Others are too fizzy. Hmmm, sounds like I'm a lush . . . just have done my homework. Just celebrated one year cancer free

Mary, Great news on the scan! Now your husband can push ahead in regaining his strength. Hopefully he is able to get the rest his body needs and the nutrition for rebuilding muscle tone. The new nestle nutrition 560 calorie product is Boost VHC which can be ordered at mddirect.com. I like this product because it's higher calorie and less sugar although high in fat -- an easy way to get more protein into the diet. I ...

Julie, The recipe exchange sounds like a fabulous idea. I am heading to a restaurant for dinner with another couple, so always hope for easy food such as soup, salad, scallops, sauces. Hmmm, "S" foods . . . Linda

Susan, Excuse me -- YOU removed the tube? My gastroenterologist yanking that thing out with a big "pop" was the most excruciating 10 seconds of my life! I must be a weenie . . . so GREAT news on the eating. I smiled at the comments on this thread about eating. So true that eating is so time consuming and requires so much effort. I miss pizza and spicy food. I did have a piece of vegetarian pizza on a thin, crispy cr...
