Hello Cancerkin, I was just hoping you could give all of us readers an update on your father. My fathers story is similiar to your fathers in many ways. He is currently taking Gemcetabine & Abraxane but I'm afraid it isn't working any longer, his tumor markers have begun to rise slowly. A little hope & more information about your fathers treatment is incouraging. Thank you for your time.  ...

Hi...could you tell me if the nanoknife IRE is covered by insurance? My dad has stage 4 pancreatic cancer with mets to his liver & I was wanting to contact Dr. N in Miami, what do you think?

Well I'm glad you guys got a second opinion. Have you heard of nano-knife IRE for pancreatic cancer? That might be an option for your mother since her cancer is localized. my father had one of the drugs removed toasted the end as well, he did well after that. I know one thing my father really craved when he was going through chemo was fruit! Especially watermelon. Stay strong...

They didn't actually open him up for the whipple. They did a small incision & looked around with a scope before they were going to perform the whipple just to make sure it hadn't spread. They told us they were 80% sure it hadn't. So we really had our hopes set.

Forgot to mention, there are many good books out there about natural ways to fight cancer, here are a few I recommend: Gods Way to Ultimate Health, Detoxify or Die, Natural Strategies for Cancer Patients, all of these can be found on amazon. Some good movies also available on amazon: Healing Cancer from the Inside Out, Powerful Immune System, Food Matters & Food Inc.

Your oncologist most likely will not be interested in helping you with this. Theres no money to be made in natural medicine, the big money comes from prescribing chemotherapy drugs so thats wheir most oncologists interests lye. Research & locate a good naturopathic doctor near your. My father went through 5 sessions of Folfirinox & did fairly well. I managed his side effects through diet & just being there for him em...

tlbschwab: it did shrink it some, but not significantly. My dad handled the side effects well until his 3rd session, he had diarrhea & vomitting so bad he was hospitalized for almost a week. A good way to manage the side effects is through diet. It would help your mom so much if your able to be there with her everyday & prepare her meals. Make sure she eats & drinks plenty of fluids. Keep away from sugar & fatty frie...

He had 5 sessions of Folfirinox in hopes of shrinking his tumor to be eligible for the whipple procedure. He went in for the whipple & it was then they discovered the mets & could not complete the surgery. The oncologist has now suggested Gemzar to prolong life because it's a low dose chemotherapy. I'm just scared it won't work as well as a stronger combo such as GTX and I will lose him.

hello all: My father has stage 4 pancreatic cancer with mets to his liver. He is going to begin gemzar this Friday as recommended by an oncologist at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I was wanting to hear from any one who has had experience with either GTX or Gemzar. I've read a lot of success stories with GTX and I can't say the same for Gemzar so I'm questioning whether Gemzar is the best option for my fathe...
