I agree, Go see Dr. Tannir.  I promise it is worth the trip. My husband was originally diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma and Dr. Tannir really broke it down to look at my husband as an individual and looked to find a treatment that is best for him and reassured us that we were not at a brick wall where there were no more options. This is where we were getting at home being that he has been getting treatme...

Hang in there!  Because of Dr. Tannir my husband is getting a treatment that is keeping his cancer at bay, he is still working, and is planning a trip to take our 4 year old son to Pittsburgh to see his beloved steelers and pirates.  We got to a point where dr.s in VA didn't even know what they could give my husband anymore.  So have faith and enjoy the gift you have of time, time to share special...

I do not, I repeat do NOT recommend anyone go see Dr. Swainey if seaking treatment at VCU in Richmond, VA.  This is the reply I got from him after we were recently were transfered to his care, met him once for a run down on what my husbands situation was. After having trouble getting my husbands next appointments I sent him an email and this was his reply:  I hear your frustration. Things don't run smooth ...

that1true Fist off, don't give up on yourself yet!!!  My husband was diagnosed with Medullary 16 months ago.  We live in Richmond VA and he started treatment here.  When we were not sure what further treatment he could take we decided to go to MD Anderson to see Dr. Tannir based on other posts I have read on this sight and his local oncologist agreeing it could be a good idea.  Dr. Tannir changed...

ssdraper, I highly suggest going to Houston.  Meeting with Dr. Tannir and the experience was well worth the trip.  They were quick to respond and with the help of our local oncologist getting information sent immediately we got in in less than two weeks. We found out that they felt it was not Medullary due to not having the sickle cell trait but rather uncatogorized stage IV renal cell. And while we d...

My husband and I took others advice and last week went to see Dr. Tannir at MD Anderson  in the hunt for some hope.  Prevously he was diagnosed with Medullary but with him not having the sickle cell trait it has been determined he has uncatorgorized renal cell.  The plus of the visit was to hear that there are some treatment options.  The downsize is the lack of hope for remission. We are thankful...

Hi! My husband is 40 and does not have the sickle cell trait. He was diagnosed Jan 2011 and told at a max 1 year. He just completed his second round of chemo.  This second time he took Gemcitabine and Carboplatin.  I showed measurable improvement, he grew back his hair, gained back all his weight plus, and is back at work full time!! It started to take a toll on his white blood count so with everything the...
