Survivor
Esophageal Cancer
Lifestyle, After Treatment

I am Steve Kottmyer. I was born in Bromley, Kentucky in 1951 and now live in New Carlisle, Ohio. I have a wife, 3 kids, and 5 grandkids. I was diagnosed with stage 1 esophageal cancer in June 2005. I had an Ivor-Lewis esophagogastrectomy in July 2005 - no chemo or radiation. I am now doing relatively well. To a large part I credit cycling with my quick recovery and continued well-being. I cycle around 4000 miles per year.
