I know Exactly what your feeling. I didnt want to face it and I was just so angry that my dad was dying before my eyes. I recently started looking at it like this. Cancer is this horrible disease. It just causes so much pain and so much suffering that it makes me happy now knowing that where he is now. Hes so much better off. Hes no longer suffering.

My dad passed away from Esophogeal Cancer on June 13th 2012. I just now had started taking care of all his things. Started to pack up his things to donate to the good will. I have to return the rental walker and wheel chair and also donate a portable potty to the disability resource center. I suggest that everyone ook into that. Here in South Carolina its a place where you can rent things that help you get around dai...

Its a tough decision on whether or not to do Chemotherapy. My father was hospitalized shortly after his diagnosis of Stage 4 EC but as far as I knew it hadnt spread. He was so weak when he was diagnosed already that the Chemotherapy only worked negative against him. If I had to turn back the clock I would have definately thought things more through and after finding out all my options made a decision. I dont know if ...

Sorry about this late reply but I just saw this. I know when My dad was going through chemotherapy he was always tired all the time and with the type of cancer he was very weak. He had no nausea or vomiting but for the first week or two his bowels were very loose. Which is one of the reasons he was donated a portable potty. He used it mostly in the bathroom to get up because the toilets were too l...

On the 23rd of this month my mother will have been gone for three years. When she passed away my father took her life insurance money and bought a trailer here in South Carolina. He was only able to enjoy it for about a year and 4 months before he was diagnosed with Stage IV Esophogal Cancer or more clearly adenocarcinoma and that was in January. Since then he had a very hard time with this rapid growing disease and ...

I ask myself the same question. My father was diagnosed January 20th but confirmed on January 23rd. He was told he had to wait 2 weeks to see an oncologigist and before he could see the oncologist he had to see a surgeon and a doctor in the radiology/oncology department. He was supposed to meet with both the Surgeon and the radiology/oncology department the same day. He met with the surgeon but before he could see th...

With my dad he slept alot during the day and then he slept the full night. It was very hard to get him to eat and everything had no flavor. I know that in between cycles as the chemo left his body he had more life to him and it was easier for him to taste the food again.

wish I had discovered this site earlier you all could have more then likely helped me. Unfortunately my dad passed away last week from this disease and what a horrible disease it was to him. My dad was always a big guy he was about 280 in September of 2010. He wasnt diagnosed until January of 2012 and by then it was already too late. He did the Chemotherapy and then tried the radiation. They had him on Cisplastin, T...

My father was diagnosed in January with Stage IV EC and he tested for those genes. Unfortunately the doctor decided to do the I believe it was Cistplatin, Taxotere and then a 5 day dose of 5FU. It wasnt until they deemed the cancer uncurable that they finally went for what they called the Hail Mary Pass and tried the herceptin with the Taxol drug. Unfortunately before we could see any progress afte 3 treatments he pa...
