  Has anyone had any experience with holistic medicines to compliment traditional medical treatment for kidney cancer? Family member is doing well with Votrient; tumors have shrunk and does not complain about any side affects.  Just wondering if there are foods or treatments that should also be considered.

  Has anyone had experience with severe ankle pain after IL-2 treatment?  It has been 12 days since the last dose and the ankle pain has not subsided.  It is difficult to walk.

  Great news!  It gives us all hope.  Thank you for posting.  My loved one has just finished his 1st course of IL-2 (1week of IL2, week off; 2nd week of IL2).  As everyone has said, side effects are manageable, not pleasant, but you can get thru it.  He is now apprehensive about whether it has worked or not.  God bless.

  My family member made it thru 12 doses.  He did great.  The last 2 days were more difficult, but the doctors/nurses know how to manage the side effects.   He gets a week off and back in for round 2.  I understand the 2nd round is more difficult.

  You hear horror stories about IL-2.  My family member is on his 9th dose.  Has had some side effects but if you treat them immediately, they're minimized--nausea, rigors, dry mouth, red skin.  I think the hardest part for him has been the confinement especially since he is a very active person.  His 9th dose--he has gained weight and now a bit difficult breathing when getting up; but this is ...

  I have read that if you don't have side effects with the IL-2 it's not working.  Obviously this is wrong.  You certainly have had success with the treatment with minor side effects.  Thanks for the positive information.  My family member has had 2 doses and no noticeable side effects.

  You provided a good log of what happened with your husband as he went thru IL-2 treatment, but wondering if you can give any advice to the care taker.  I'm saying my prayers that my family member will have success with this treatment.

  Thank you for the replies.  Fortunately, the 2nd brain scan came back clean.  Family member will start IL-2 on Monday.
