I had mine at Sloan Kettering in NYC in 2010.  They're excellent and a surgeon there is Dr. Peter Allen.  Also, Johns Hopkins is excellent.  In Texas, you have MD Anderson.  I can't tell you about the West Coast, but in the midwest, I'm sure Mayo Clinic does a lot (not sure though).  When I was at Sloan Kettering, I asked a nurse how many they did weekly and remembered I was shocked at the nu...

Most importantly in my opinion based on my own experience is stay away from fats.  When I came home after the Whipple I did not have any pills (enzymes) such as Creon that assisted in digestion.  Every person is differnt, but that anything high in fat would run right through me...  Eat small amounts of food thourghout the day ... not large helpings.  I could eat just about anything other...

I had one done when I was initially diagnosed with PC.  Didn't have any issues with it.  Below is a link regarding the procedure.  It's just part of the process.... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007479.htm   Dave

The CEA and CA 19-9 both were in the normal range until May.  Since then they've been elevated...but holding. CEA just under 5 CA-19-9 hanging around 50. The 19-9 fluctuates plus or minus 4.  I have bloodwork done that past 3 months... next bloodwork and scan in January.

Hit my 3 year anniversary since my Whipple on 12/7 (diagnosed July 2010).  Seems like yesterday I was saying it was my 2 year anniversary... feel very fortunate to have made it this far.  Spiritually, maybe I can say PC was a lifesaver... or maybe just an introduction to what life is really all about.  As with everything, there is always something positive to learn about yourself and life.... Comment about lymph nodes..I had my whipple done at Sloan Kettering. They took 29... The more the better...also, their belief was not to use drainage unless needed, because often it caused more complications than benefits...which is why I was probably out in 5 days. Best wishes!

Jackie Jo...those signs are real...I was talking to a friend about the book and we both said the same thing....if you believe there is truth to the book..and I do...then the information communicated from the other side really opens your eyes...and.it's all or nothing...meaning you take away that you've just learned the mysteries of life..or it's just a big farce...you can't say you believe in some of the content, but...
