It's hard to say how long someone has, some hold on longer then others. I wouldn't say months though. I would say weeks. If you and your family are able to care for him at home I would say let him stay at home. Hospic can come in and help you. My father wanting to pass away at home and thats what he let him do.

I know all to well what you are going though. My Daddy passed away on June 20th .... 3 months ago from Stomach Cancer that spread to his Liver. The Liver Cancer is what took him away. He was up and walking around on Mother's day but was starting to go down hill. By the time Father's day got here he couldn't get out of bed or hardly even feed his self.  2 weeks before he passed is when he started to slowly sleep ...

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. She is suffering terriable =(   You should talk to her about Pallative and maybe  Hospice Care, I know some people don't like decisions made for them. But signs I would say to look for is her sleeping more and more, if she doesn't want to eat anymore, if she starts to become confused, forgetful. That was some of the things my dad started doin a week or so before ...

Your right waiting is the hardest part. Also its easy to say or be told to prepare but doin it is a totally differnt thing. I hated seeing him so weak. All I wanted to do was take away all the pain and make him the way he used to be. =\ I wrote a poem called "Dear God" I posted on here. Till just resently I noticed how close the days in between be writing it and he passing away... only 2 days. Here is the link if you...

My dad passed away 2 months ago from the same thing. He went down hill rather fast. On Mother's Day (May 13, 2012) we all gathered at my parents house fearing it would be the last holiday with him. But he did make it Father's Day (June 17, 2012) but he was asleep most of the time we were there. On Father's Day he was walking around and was mobil. In less then 2 weeks he was unable to walk 2-3 feet without being tota...

My father was first diagnosed with Somach Cancer in Oct 2007 & passed away June 20,2012. So he lived almost 5 years after diagnose of cancer. It was what I called invisiable cancer. They couldn't see it with any kind of scan. Only a biopsy of the lining showed it. He then went on Radition and Chemo. Not sure of the length he was on that but after he was done he was cancer free for atleast 2 years. But it came bac...

**On June 20,2012 my Dad left this world and walked up the stairs to HEAVEN***

My name is Nancy and I am here because of my Dad who has Stomach and now Liver Cancer.

He has been battling this MONSTER since Oct 2007. His doctor said he was a miracle to have lived as long as he has. That most with his cancer don't live 6 months. He did beat this thing once but it did come back with vengeance =(. But I am so happy that me and my whole family have been blessed to have him with us this long. When his time does come to go be with God I just pray it is a very peaceful transition. I would much reither him go HOME then spend one more day with me in awful pain.
