I have not had tongue but tonsil cancer. I had chemo and 35 radiation treatments.
I was given a pill for appetite. To help. It didn't help and now I have to take a pill to keep me from goign to teh bathroom in the middle of the night. Wouldn't take a pill for enhanced appeitite.
I was given something for dry mouth, didn't work. Nothing works from what I've seen. After about 12 months it won't be AS botherso...

Both my cancer doctors told me they'd have to wait a bit after having radiation and checmo to do a scan (6 months) as there are HOT SPOTS and get too many false positives.
But don't worry, they'll scan you soon enough.
I've been scanned so many times I can no longer play Hide & Seek with my 2 neices. I glow in the dark. :-)

I also take a pill fo...

Your story is almost word for word with mine 5 years ago. Lymph node, antibiotics, sore throat went away. Took out node, cancer.
Radiaion & chemo.
its 90% curable. Tonsils taken out might still have an area to trap cancer.
Look into TOMA radiation its less dmagaing to the mouth than IMRT from what I read. I had imrt and now carry a bottle of water everywhere-dry mouth.
Different doctors-diffeerent plans. I se...
