To all of you looking for answers I pray for you, God Really works in mysterious ways and I trust he will help each of you. I was on this site looking for answers some months ago, It was great to read and communicate with some of you, But as we all know This type of Cancer is aweful. If caught in the first stages you are the very lucky very few. My mother was told back in January 2007 she had stage 3 Bile duct cancer and that operating was not possible, the doctors never gave us alot of answers or possibilities of this cancer, I had to research myself and found that my Mother only had a 6 -12 month survival. She went through the Chemo treatments so bravely never complaining. She Is a true Hero and never gave up. She told us all she put it in the Lords hands and what ever God had in store for her she would except it. September 30th I was staying at my parents for the weekend as I always did, I lived about an hour away and visited often, sometimes 2 -3 times a week. On that Morning My Father woke me up around 7am and said we needed to get my Mom to the Hospital because she was in pain. We had to call an ambulence and we got her there in a matter of moments, We thought perhaps her pain pills were not working as well and they may have to increase them. Monday afternoon The Doctor came in and Told My Mother and Us that the Cancer was out of control and the Tumor was larger than ever and there was nothing else they could do except keep her comfortable with pain medicine. My Mother so Bravely asked the doctor " So they can't treat this any more ? there is nothing else to be done?" The doctor replied no I am sorry you may have a couple of weeks maybe a month. my Mother said "well, I did not need to hear that but OK. So when do I get to go home?" he said in a few days once we get the pain under control... She had total kidney failure that week, I stayed with her in the room night and day and watched over her and help  her with anything I could. They let my Mom go home on Friday with the help of Hospis... She got home around 1:30 Friday afternoon, and Family and friends dropped by all day and night as they did at the hospital. Saturday Morning Around 7:30am my Mother was sleeping after a Horrible night from Midnight to 6am of Bile coming up and fluid building on her lungs It was absolutely terrible. She then rested and at 7:30 I sat next to her and re-arranged the pillows behind her to make her more comfortable I gave her a Kiss and told her I loved her around 8:17am I sat and held her hand she opened her eyes and looked at her sister and I. We told her it is okay you can go home now and we all love you. Everything will be ok, She took 3 more long breaths passed on. I gentley lowered the head of the bed and closed her eyes and laid her hands together. Then cried, My Mother died it was the most Horrible and Beautiful moment of my life. It has been hard to get here to the web site to post this. But I want any one that is going thru this to know. Spend as much time as possible with your loved ones you will never regret it, nothing else in life is as important than being there for them when they need you the most. I will never get over loosing my Mother at such a young age, She was only 58 in May of this year and We had a 41st Wedding Anniversary for her and my Father August 14th. I will cherrish these moments always until I see her again in heaven myself. The hardest thing to deal with is My Father was fighting Lung Cancer the Year Before, He found out in January that his cancer was in remition, My Mother found out the very next day she had Bile duct cancer... I may never understand why both of them had to go thru this but it is a Blessing My Father is still doing good and his cancer has not returned. ANd it was a Blessing to be there for my Mother in her last days and all of the family and friends that gathered around. May God be with each and everyone of you going thru this and I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless...

I'm very sorry for your loss and we can celebrate that she is in Heaven and we can Thank God for the incredible peace He gives us at that moment.

Can I ask you a question/ Did your mom have Intrahepatic Bile Duct Cancer?

My mom has this and was given six months to live - this was also in Jan 2007' and she was told in April - that there is nothing else she can do.

She has a great quality of life right now - which I am so thankful. But the tumor is growing and the fluid is starting to build back up pretty rapidly - she is going to have the fluid drained on Dec. 17th -I'm so scared because your story sounds identical to mine. My mom has not been back to the Doctor -she said she had rather not know if it's growing - but since the fluid is swelling her stomach up again - we figure the tumor is growing and blocking the entrance to the bile duct again.

Is this similar to what you & your family experienced.

Please respond - I just need someone to talk to about this who understands - my mom is 63 and has always been very active and healthly.

Thank you so much

That is Awesome - Praise the Lord!!! He still does miracles everyday!

Has anyone out there heard of this medication? It is used for all different cancers & diseases. It generally comes in 50 mg tablets, so it has to be compounded to 1.5 mg to 4 mg per dose.

My mom has intrahepatic bile duct cancer & surgery is not an option. Also she has completed chemo & radiation & she chose not to take any more chemo. We found this med. & her onocologist prescribed it for her.

It sounds great - Just wondering if anyone has used it or heard of it. All the information I could get would be very helpful especially if you have used it. Please respond  as soon as possible  - Thank You

Again the name of the med. is Low Dose Naltrexone.

TopGun,

Have you had someone in your family with this same cancer or are you the one? I'm sorry I haven't read a message from you - so I wasn't sure of the story. Thank You for the information - I will follow through on this and see what happens- Thanks Again

Hello my name is Beka I am 33. When I was 32  last yr 06 in May I was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma. I was told it was inoperableand was told that sometimes this cancer doesnot respond to chemo but they said we were goingto try. I was terrified and morbidly depressed.

I am oneof 40% that respond positively to c hemo (I'm on epirubicin, cisplatin and flourouracil) my tumor after 6 treatments has shrunk from 11cm down to 6 cm. Now I'm on  a maintenance plan. Having Flouro on ts own.   My oncologist calls me her miraclegirl. I am allowed to  do some teaching with kids now as my immunity is better not being on the otherharsh chemos. I have a  fantastic quality  of life andI have heard of a guy who has the same cancer as me on the same treatment and he is  still going after having this cancer for 14 years. There is hope. I know there arepeople outthere suffering. This is my first time on this site this is the first  time I ever typed cholangiocarcinoma ingoogle. I have been afraid all this time. All I can say  is my heart goes out to everyone being impacted by this disease. I have been praying for everyone else who is suffering from or impacted by cancer . I hope you all keep praying  too. It helps as itreally comforts me  I  hope I give hope to you.

Sincerely, Beka

Beka,

That's awesome-what an encouraging word. My mom has intrahepatic - What type is yours? They also can not operate because the tumor is to large and is covering the arteries. She is taking chemo- Gemzar & also radiation. Thank You for giving us hope - I will also be praying for you & your family. Our hope is that God will work a miracle in her life as well - she is 62. If you have any new info- please reply back

Thank You

I am a 45 yr.old mom of 5 who served in the Army 1977-1980. I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago with this type of cancer. Based on my research I feel as though there is a connection between being stationed in Okinawa and this type of cancer. I am needing any info from other veterans in relation to this. Thanks, Jeanie D.

Jeanie, I don't know about the connection in okinawa, but if you would be so kind as to give me an update on your cancer. My mom has this same cancer & they can not operate because the tumor is covering her arteries. So they are doing chemo-Gemzar & Radiation. Please give any info you might have on this terrible cancer. I will also be praying for you
