Message Text Whipple in June 2011. Sympton free until felt lump on left Lymph node on neck 2 weeks ago. Needle biopsy showed cancer. CT Scan showed no other tumors. CA-19 is 14.5. Start Folferax chemo regimen this Tuesday (8/27). Stats I've been able to find indicate a 3-5% probability of matastasis to neck lymph node. Anybody had or know of similar metastasis path and what was experience?

I had the whipple in June 2011 and have dealt with digestive problems and Creon ever since.  I was prescribed Creon fairly soon after the operation. Your post refers to the number of capsules your wife takes, but the important thing is the UNT (strength) of the capsules as much as the number of capsules. I weigh 214 pounds. I started taking two 6000 UNT capsules before each...

I don't have an answer for you...suggest you ask your doc.  I'm not sure, but I think deciding to do the surgery depends on size of tumor (and location) more than marker number.

Bruce... Your post struck a chord with me. I am 66, 1 year 6 months post whipple, with clean scans and marker numbers with bone density back problems from chemo and radiation and find myself kind of lost between thoughts of "wow maybe I will be around for plenty more years" and "this PC could reoccur tomorrow and I am just in a temporary remission right now". I too for the most part look and act like a healthy ...

Whipple 18 months ago and cancer free as of CT Scan last week. Took about 15 months to really get digestion and bowels to a manageable state.  Initial doses of enzyme medication too little but finally worked up to 2 24000 Creons before each meal and one before each snack and that has fixed things. Early months diareah, frequent bowel movements, gas were a consant problem. Gas that passes is so bad my family kee...

Definitely recommend getting to Moffitt ASAP. It is the best for cancer in the Southeast and one of the top in US. Call them up and they'll probably get your friend started with a Gastroenterologist. I had Dr.Vignesh who I highly recommend. If your friend is fortunate enough to qualify for suregery, there are several surgeons at Moffitt who perform the whipple operation (which is a ma...

I had the whipple in June 2011, remain sympton free, and always exist with the knowledge that my next quarterly CT scan could be bad news. When I see the news that a famous person like Sally Ride (or Randy Pausch or Steve Jobs) died of pancreatic cancer I find myself with a couple of thoughts: If people that accomplished, talented and smart, with all their resources can succumb to this horrible disease there ...

Had same experience re food taste...previuous comment correct as I just experimented and found tasty foods. I had been a big coffee drinker all my adult life and during chemo found I couldn't stand the stuff. I rediscoverd unsweetened ice tea and have it all the time now. Also discovered "light flavor" cranberry juice tasted great. Sharp cheeses, tomato sauce dishes. Been off chemo and radiation 6months now and t...
