  I don't have an answer for you...suggest you ask your doc.  I'm not sure, but I think deciding to do the surgery depends on size of tumor (and location) more than marker number.

  Bruce... Your post struck a chord with me. I am 66, 1 year 6 months post whipple, with clean scans and marker numbers with bone density back problems from chemo and radiation and find myself kind of lost between thoughts of "wow maybe I will be around for plenty more years" and "this PC could reoccur tomorrow and I am just in a temporary remission right now".   Whipple 18 months ago and cancer free as of CT Scan last week. Took about 15 months to really get digestion and bowels to a manageable state.  Initial doses of enzyme medication too little but finally worked up to 2 24000 Creons before each meal and one before each snack and that has fixed things.     Definitely recommend getting to Moffitt ASAP. It is the best for cancer in the Southeast and one of the top in US. Call them up and they'll probably get your friend started with a Gastroenterologist. I had Dr.Vignesh who I highly recommend.   Had same experience re food taste...previuous comment correct as I just experimented and found tasty foods. I had been a big coffee drinker all my adult life and during chemo found I couldn't stand the stuff. I rediscoverd unsweetened ice tea and have it all the time now.
