Doctors have maintained an offensively, patronizing posture towards patients treating us as mindless ignoramouses throughout the process of making medical decisions for us, failing to provide thorough and competent information about treatment options and the hazards of recommended treatment including but not limited to natural alternatives. In doing so the medical profession has not only cost this country trillions o...

If colon cancer cells love insulin, wouldn't caffeine also be a culprit?

You apparently are not aware that many people have died or have been permanently damaged for life because doctors are not required to order these simple genetic tests. Not everyone has a computer, not everyone is able to access this web page and not everyone is able to protect themselves from this kind of medical irresponsibility. You don't have to help force them to be responsible and to fully inform patients, but E...

So truly sorry about your horrid experience, but perhaps you and I and those of us who have had these horrific reactions to this purportedly "harmelss creme" drug, can do something to make dermatologists less likely to liberally dispense it without thinking about the consequences to their patients. Would you and others reading this post be willing to sign up a petition [I would created] to demand that the FDA requir...

I'm so glad you won't have to go through what I and others have. Please do read all the articles posted on the internet. I'm tempted to start an Internet Petition through CHANGE.ORG to require all insurance companies and physicians to do the 5-FU test prior to prescribing the drug and to be held legally responsible for their irresponsible use of this drug. According to most oncologists, 5-FU is a life saving chemothe...

There was a typo, it is 5-FU, that is the chemical identity for flououracil the chemotherapy agent that is in all these cremes effudex, carac etc. The genetic test determines if you have the necessary genetic makeup to be able to metabolize and excrete the drug. This drug, though administered topically is used to treat colon, breast and other kinds of serious cancers and is exceptionaly dangerous and dermatologists t...

I would think long and hard before using that creme. You should also insist that your dermatologist do the genetic testing to see if you have the ability to properly metabolize and excrete it. If you are genetically compromised that creme could easily kill you. It is a F-FU sensativity test. Please be careful. The docotrs either don't know of don't care to tell you about how dangerous this creme is.

I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I had an even worse pain scenario. I felt as if I had the worst flu on the planet and none of the pre cancerous lesions on my face even responded to the treatment. I was told there is an antidote to the creme but it is only made by one pharmaceutical co, in this USA called Wellstat, but they wouldn't give me the antidote, they claim that the FDA has limited them to only prov...

I don't know who it was that sent me the message re: effudex, but that stuff [5-fu, nearly killed me and has entirely destroyed my immune system [over 6 months after the fact] . The stuff is deadly dangerous and any physician that prescribes it should make that blatantly clear and have the antidote [Uridine tri-phospate avaialbe to anyone h=who has a serious adverse reaction to it. And yet they don't nor do the ER's ...

Thanks. I was sent to an oncologist, but she hasn't reccomended any tests. Doesn't seem that anyone realy cares to do anything but give me more drugs for the pain. I'm very miffed at both the medical profession and the pharaceutical industry at the moment. Don't know where to turn. I have had very severe adverse reactions to pharmaceutical drugs in the past and even told the doctor that before he prescribed it and he...
