I am doing ok now, I think.  Had a Lung Biopsy in March, four CAT Scans since end of January and a PET Scan.  Had showing of enlargment of something in Lung or possible infection.  But last Scan showed improvement results were sent to Lung doc and he said I look ok no more scans.  I go back to him in August.  It's possible it was the pneumonia  scaring I had back when I was in hospi...

Just got back from my Doc visit to get results on last weeks tests.  All came back good.  They didn't find anything.  Seems it was only scar tissue probably from pneumonia they thought I might have had when I was in the hospital.  PET Scan showed normal.  He is still keeping me off the Rev/Dex for now, my counts are still good. Just in case some of you newbies wasn't aware of this. Tomorrow we are going over to MDAnderson Houston for a session that is being put on by Patient Power and hosted by MDA.  The topic is: " Living Well with Multiple Myeloma".  There will be two Myeloma Doctors giving the presentation.  One from MDA and not sure where the other one is from.  I think Patient Power will video the session...

Infections have been going on with me for a while now.  After coming home from the hospital last December with the lung and spine hardware problems end of January I had a CAT Scan.  Lung surgeon said I was fine but when I showed the results to my Infectious Desease Doctor he didn't like the report.  He thought it might be some type of infection or just scar tissue so said we will do another CAT Scan in...

I am still taking Acyclovir 400 mg twice a day and have not reduced the dosage. Have not had any problems with Shingles since 2008. Hop

I don't know anything about Medicaid but I am on Medicare Part A and B.  I also have Part D for prescriptions.  Medicare does not pay for Prescriptions but having Part D from a private insurance company will give you a slight discount.  Medicare will cover anything you get in the Doctor's office like Velcade IVs but if it is a prescription it won't.  Medicare pays 80%.  I also have a Medicare...

I was on Aredia (similar to Zometa) for almost two years before I went in for my SCT and my doctor didn't want me to go back on it after the transplant.  He said after two years of this stuff it can cause other problems.  My bone x-rays looked very good so not going back on it was not a problem. After my SCT I did not go on maintenance until about 8 months later because of insurance problems and I had...

I agree with what Terry said, there is lots of ammunition available now.  I replapsed two years after my stem cell transplant.  I was on low dose Rev. 5mg for maintenance and it didn't do the job.  I started to get pain in my side so that was first indication something was going on.  My Rev. was increased to 25mg and Dex was added plus I had four cycles of Velcade and all this put me back in remis...

I'm doing ok right now.  A few weeks ago one of the small incisions from my surgery split open and got infected.  My Oncologist right away put me on Bactrim antibiotic and made an appointment with my surgeon.  Within 5 days by the time I saw the surgeon, it was just about cleared up.  It looks healed now.  I go to MDA next week, Wednesday for blood tests and see my MM doct...

                      About Hophop4

                      Patient, Survivor
                      Multiple Myeloma

I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma October 2006. At that time I had spine surgery for a large tumor on the spine. Had a Stem Cell Transplant March 2009 at MDAnderson in Houston. I am in remission at present time. Started on Thalomid for maintenance on January 20, 2010. I started with a 200 dosage and was dropped to 100 and then on 50 due to my Platelets dropping. I have currently switched to Revlimid 5 mg for maintenance.
Update: In March 2011 my test results showed my plasma cells have returned and possibly myeloma is back. Increase of Rev to 25mg and Velcade w/dex was done for one cycle with good results then a second cycle of Rev 25mg and Velcade. I completed 4 cycles of Rev 25 mg and Velcade and should be back in remission. Update: In November 2011 counts were acting up so they added dex 20 mg once a week with the Rev 25 mg and I have been back in remission once again.
