Hi Aus6321, Thank you very much for your advice! My surgeon thinks I am still strong enough to recover from a Whipple. He will remove all the lymph nodes (including all the tumors, i.e.,  swelling lymph nodes) near the head of pancreas and duodenum but told me that it's unlikely to clean up all the cancers. That means, it will come back early or later. My liver is still free o...

Hi, can someone give me some advice? After more than 1.5 years' of chemo (leaving me with many weak organs), I am now adviced to have Whipple by my surgeon while my primary (chemo) oncologist has concurred very cautiously due to the aggressiveness of my cancer (which means, there is a chance the cancer will speed up spreading dramatically following the operation). All my oncologists hav...

Hi, I hope everyone has done well and have had a great start of the holiday so far! I am now searching for an experienced Whipple surgeon associated with a quality cancer center in western area (US). Recommendation is highly appreciated!  After 14-month chemos and integrative medicine, my tumors are significantly softened and no longer as aggressive as before so my oncologists chan...

Hi Bill, How are you doing? I hope you're doing well with your new chemo. I had evaluation of radiotherapy. The oncologist said tumors of PNET are hard to destroy and rate of success is about 60% and there is a possibility to growing back later. I am evaluating possibility of surgery too. My study seems to indicate that my case is not very likely due to no octreotide rece...

Thanks for the anticancer diet suggestions! It's very useful. I used similar advice from book "Anticancer - A New Way of Life" to design my diet. To begin with, one may try to add a few drops of squeezed lemon juice from organic lemon to the liquid that you drink (water, soup, food dishes etc). But I don't suggest to cut meat completely if you used to eat meat before. Trying to chan...

Hi Bill, I am sorry to hear that Rotterdam didn't work for you. Don't give up. I believe there should always be a way there to open up for us. My situation is not too bad so far. In additon to carefully planned diet I kept hiking every day until Nov when a little cold and raining season started here in CA. Since exercise stopped suddenly, my body started to feel itchy and grow rashes. Other than that I don't h...

Hi, thanks for your info! My oncologist expected the skin of my hands and feet would be very dry and shedding prior I tstarted to take xeloda+temodar. It turns out I am fine so far. I had a little rush on my chest, very minor gum infection in mouth and a little bit constipation every time after I started to take temodar at 10th day. But I ate many veges and fruits, drank a lot of soups of bea...

Hi Bill, thanks for your info! Good luck with your trip to Rotterdam! Since your octreoscan is positive, LU-177 should be effective to you. Pray for your speedy recovery! Without other better options, my oncologist suggested me 4 more cycles of Xeloda & Temodar. I will wait and see. God bless you!

A biopsy should be the way to confirm the type of cancer (if you seek second opinion, the specialist always asks for biopsy slides prior your visit). Octreoscan will determine if your husband's cancer cells have receptors for somatostatin. If the octreoscan result is positive, then his doctor will have more options to treat his cancer. For example, many people in this thread mentioned treatme...

Hi, what grade is your husband's PNET? What drugs is your husband using now in chemo? Generally the treatment will depend on the grade and stage of the tumors. This is rear cancer. Always suggest one to see specialists of this area. I am on chemo too with grade 3/stage 3 of PNET. Now I'm on Xeloda + Temodar and it seems effective. Tried Carboplatin + Etoposide, and Texol before. God ble...
