  Well said, TG. It seems like systoms are worse in younger people as they are in a lot of diseases. My doctor said there is research being done, especially with the Jak 2 marker, but it doesn't get a lot of press since ET is so rare.

   I don't blame things on Hydrea lightly, I go on the criteria that I didn't have the symptoms before taking the drug and began having them after taking it. I forgot to mention that I also expereince dry mouth(only at night) and vivid and weird dreams. Other considerations are that I am on other meds-BP, Cholestrol, arthiritis meds, so there is a possibility of interaction with the Hydrea. When I started tak...

  I am a 75 year old female in good health but I was diagnosed with ET two years ago. I also have CLL ( high white count), it is rare to have both, anyone one else out there have both? The bone marrow test showed some moderate scarring  so I am on one 500 mg Hydrea a day and all my counts are normal. I have found differences in readings from different labs as much as 50-60 points.   Thank you, Patty. I started out taking one 500 mg a day, platelets weren't coming down after a month so she put me on 2 a day for 7 months and then lowered it back to one pill a day. We had the counts we wanted, but reds were being effective. So far, things are fine on the one pill. Has the medicine affected your sleeping habits?
