Hello Everyone, my name is Karolina and I am a 32 year old woman living in Athens, Greece. I was recently diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma which had metastasized to the lymph nodes in my neck. I had a total thyroidectomy and neck dissection on the 23rd of December 2009 and after post operative complications (hypocalcemic shock) was finally discharged 11 days later. After a period of 7 months my Tumor Marker levels showed the cancer was back once again, and I underwent a second round of RAI (Nov.1, 2010). Tumor Marker levels persisted being high, and eventually was told I needed one last round of RAI (April 2011). Am now battling with the effects of RAI yet seem to be stable for the moment despite my TM levels never dropping to "safe" levels. It is a wait and see process. Feeling scared and trying to summon up all the strength I can get! Would love to be there for someone else in need and simple exchange support and strength with others.
