My mother passed away 4 months ago after being diagnosed 4 months earlier. I moved in with her and she did so well up until the last 2 weeks.  When she found out that there was nothing else that could be done, she gave up.  I had never watched anyone die and even though I thought I was prepared, I was not.  It is one thing to be told that someone you love has died, it is another to be there.  Plea...

Hi Joe, My mother was diagnosed in February with stage 4 kidney cancer; hadn't even been sick.  I'm an only child (my brother, too, died of brain cancer 40 years ago and I STILL have problems with that) and I went to live with her.  She died 4 months later in June.  I can NOT wrap my head around it.  I miss her so much.  What I pray everyday to go away is remembering her being so, ...

My mother lost her battle with kidney cancer on June 13th.  She was sick only 4 months.  Sometimes I lose my breath with the realization that she is gone. I hope and pray the day will come when her final days will not be so clear in my mind and I can remember all of our good times prior to her diagnosis is February.  I feel like I am in a fog.

Marcy, yes, you're right; her overall health won't allow it, but we were initially told that there would be no surgery because it had spread. Thank you for your response and we truly do have to thank God for every day we are given.  I hope your husband has many, many more.

Thank for your response.  Yes, we do seem to have similar things going on...surely wish it was something more pleasant.  We have an appointment tomorrow with the oncologist and neither one of us is looking forward to it because of what we fear the lung nodules may be. This is such a helpless feeling. I hope that your mother does well on Votrient.  I feel like my mom's doc will put her back on it as so...

My 74 year old mother was diagnosed with stage 4 RCC in February.  We were told that she has a 6cm tumor on her left kidney and malignant lymphnodes in her chest and that surgery is not an option because it has spread.  Before starting treatment, we found out she had issues with her blood pressure and thyroid (hadn't had any problems prior to cancer diagnosis).  After getting those under control, she s...
