I have not posted in a long time, but I sneak back occasionally to read what is happening.  My mom is now living in a closed Alzheimer's unit.  We moved her out of our house about 9 months ago, after the second stroke.  The dementia is stable, and her brain has not had further shrinkage in over a year, but she is a mess.  In a wheelchair most of the time (can stand/pivot), forgets she needs help c...

I have not been on in a while.  Life has been challenging, as usual.  I was in the process of looking for a different place for my mom to live because the 24/7 caretaking was taking a toll on my family.  I was hoping and praying for a sign that it was ok for me to move her out, and she had two small strokes which landed her in the hospital for a few days.  Anyway, the sign was there.  I moved...

I am the primary caregiver for my mom who struggles with the day to day effects of radiation from her brain cancer (oligoastrocytoma grade III-not operable. Treated with radiation and chemo. Not currently on any chemo) 6 years ago. She moved in with my family in April 2010. She had been doing really great until she had a stroke end of July. She lost a lot of function on her left side. I am just looking for some support and words of encouragement to get me through. It has been a rough journey.
