The Thymus gland is important when youger as it gives anti-bodies to the blood (very simple explanation) To my knowledge there are two main cancer of the Thymus, Thymoma- this cancer seems to present it self as a cancer with mulitple tumors over a longer period of time. The tummors are slow growing and often Dr.s just watch them and do not remove until necasssary.    Thymic Carcinoma- this cancer is muc...

it can take awhile to qualify for disability. I was lucky .I have total disabilty so can not work at all and I do miss it. work is a reminder that you are NOT your cancer. Also do you depend on work for insurance? Having private insurance or medicare/medicaid can make a difference in where you get treated. More and more specialists are decling new patients because of the re-imbursment and the red tape you shou...

I have passed the average tme when recurrence uasually occurs and I am still healthy, well not healthy but alive lol. but I do spend more time wondering what it is going to be like when it comes back? Some have said it is even more aggressive. is that even possible? Will I have time to finish things I need to do? Is it very painful? what can I do to make it easier for my caregivers and teh end? Everyone thinks it ...

I guess I am weak. I do take medications for pain control. My prognosis is not even a question and I have already surpassed my Dr.s (ex Dr.s) expectations. Just as many of the others that commented on this some days are worse than others so how much I rely on my Rxs varies. My primary care physician is actually suprised that I am still hanging in on such low doses! For me I want to be able to enjoy my grandsons, my g...

looking for anyone that is stage 3 or 4 THYMIC CARCINOMA or a caregiver that is willing to share the experience when it re-appeared Dr.s research papers (the few I could find) have statistics. I want to know what it will be like. Does it progress even faster than original tumor? Does it come back in the same area (chest)? or where? Will I realize it is back soon enough to still have some "enjoyable&q...

Maybe this would have come about if so many Dr.s didn't treat us as perpetual whiners ?  or people just begging for more drugs. If it was not for my promary care physician I would never have been able to enjoy the sommer with my 3 grandsons and another boy on the way! It was simple I told her I need stronger neds. she was actually suprised I had not asked for an increaase before. But she understood how important ...

I have Thymic Carcinoma I am 52 and have three grandsons that I live for!! can't imagine not being around to see them grow.I joined this site out of a frustration of the lack of information and what there is or what each Dr says just contradicts what I was already told.Does anyone here use the Mayo Clinic? I am hoping to ask some questions about others treatment and side effects I am spending way to much time worrying about the when and where of the recurrence but with THYMIC CARCINOMA that is not an easy search. but when we find each other it is love and support and compare and learn and eventually tears
