Make a Wish

by Gavinssmom - June 15, 2010

Gavin gets to Make A Wish!  It's kinda cool/sad all at the same time.  Gavin chose to go on a Nick cruise, we found out about it from our older son last night.  I texted his mom to ask about it and she said he was approved to cruise to the bahamas and all they need is his docs approval and my husbands signiture!  No one had told US anything about it....  We are so thrilled for him and only wish we were able to see his wish come true as well.  We were informed that only she and her new husband could accompany him.  My husband is a little hurt that he can't watch Gav experience this.  I guess I don't really have any questions to post just wanted to share that Gavin gets to have this awesome experience!

thank you so much for your prayers!  We are firm believers in the power of prayer and know that it has made a difference with Gavin through his chemo!  Gavin is 81/2 years old, and we are from the Quad Cities area (Iowa and Illinois) we are fortunate and are able to go to the St Jude midwest affiliate in Peoria, IL.  I'm not sure how we would make it if we had to go to Memphis for all of this.  We are running very low on funds at this point already with all the travel back and forth to Peoria...  My dad lives in Arkansas too!  He just moved down there at the end of March.  I hope this message finds you well, we will keep you in our prayers as well.

overwhelmed...

by Gavinssmom - June 08, 2010

I am new here, and am to be honest am still a bit shocked from our diagnosis...   I was just wondering if anyone has experience with childhood brain cancer?  We just finished up 6 rounds of chemo and had a nice long visit at St Judes today to prepare for 6 weeks of radiation.  I am scared to death because I cared for my grandmother during her radiation and it was HORRIBLE.  They have said that the kids do better but I am very worried...

I am blessed to be married to a wonderful man who brought with him into our relationship a cute little four year old boy. That four year old boy turned eight last December and just one month later we were told he had brain cancer. We have been through surgeries and six rounds of chemotherapy and tomorrow is our reevaluation. I pray constantly that our baby will grow to have babies of his own and that this chapter in our lives will soon be over.
