I have a scan tomorrow since my last one in May. I was told by my doctor that I can come now every 6 months. I am so nervous because I have been not feeling that good. My bloodwork was done in November and tumor markers were great, but I know with this disease it can change so quickly.

Dear mister met, Right now I am so nervous because the dull ache and pain is coming and lasting more frequently. How do you know other than with a scan that there is no recurrence? My scan is moved to next Friday but I am nervous because I will get the results Christmas eve. I have felt really good and had pain but I just feel so different. I'm not sure if this is the way others feel on a daily basis. If the ca...

Since my whipple surgery on 4/27/11 I have an intermittent dull ache that comes and goes. This time the episodes are happening more frequent.  I had bloodwork  the end of November,  it was normal and ca19-9 was (9). My next scan is scheduled for January 8, and my last one was in May. They moved me up to every six months so this will be the time. Has anyone with recurrence had these symptoms and how do...

Candy, next week I will celebrate 19 months pst whipple surgery for adenocarcinoma on the head of the pancreas. At my last visit in May, my oncologist was so happy that I had made it to 14 months with no recurrence that he told me he believes I am cured....I feel and know differently. My family and friends believe too that it is gone but, I am a medical professional and also a realist. If they are all putting on an a...

I just celebrated my 17 month anniversary from pc and the whipple and I agree with everything DavefromCt and Candy  have to say. I have learned to live my precious life to the fullest everyday and not wait for this dreadful cancer to retrun. It is wasting all of the good time I  have left. When diagnosed I knew that the situation looked "grim" but knew that I had a tough fight ahead of me and was determine...
