I hope you are not discouraging patients from chemotherapy. For many of those on temodar is has minimal side effects and has demonstrated efficacy on a large scale phase III clinical trial. It is not a cure, but prolongs life. I also believe the DCVax is a great trial and has shown great results. I wouldn't forget that this was also coupled with RT/chemo during those trials and also is prolonging life. DCVax has neve...

My mom was diagnosed in July 2011 and had the ICT-107 vaccine. She had a slight recurrence in February 2012 that her oncologist recently told her that there were very little cancer cells found in the second resection. Since then she has been cancer free :) Good luck!

Unfortunately, for most Phase II and III trials they do have a placebo. The FDA requires a control group, so the company can't really get around it. It is just a risk that you have to take. Sometimes you are able to tell if you are getting the real thing, for example if you had side effects you could speculate that you were getting the real drug. But they also make up placebo's in a similar formulation so even that i...

It is true that you can't use DCVax after the first surgery. ICT-107 is another great trial but has reached completion for Phase II and are not accepting patients. You should try the CDX-110. Looks like this would need to be done concurrently with temodar so you will have to act fast! Also, you can contact the testing laboratory and have the parrafin samples sent to test for their mutation instead of being there in ...

Dan, My mom is doing great! She only had the 4 shots and they did not make any more vaccine for her. She had a slight recurrence in April 2012, but her oncologist told her it was so slight that he doesn't even know if it was a true recurrence. Since her second craniotomy in April 2012, she has had all clear scans. She is coming up on 2 years, we found out she was had a brain tumor July 4th weekend in 2011. She was o...

My mom has been using the Novocure since January 2012. She has done pretty well with it. She has been doing maintenance temodar and Novocure for the past year and has no signs of tumor. She was diagnosed in July 2011. Please let me know if I can help or answer questions. There is also a novocure support group as part of the virtualtrials.com website.

I am not a radiation expert by any means, however, I am an engineer and have worked in the field of nuclear medicine. There is very little known about radiation. There are two main theories about cancer and radiaton. The first is that people who have been exposed to chronic radiation over their lifetime have a higher risk of cancer. The second is that a any dose of radiation can be harmful in even a small dose if the...

I looked into this a couple of weeks ago, because I saw an article about how they perform molecular testing on everyone to individualize their treatments. When I called and spoke with one of their "Patient Care Specialists" she did not seem familiar at all with GBM. It seemed to me like a cancer program where they focus on nutrition, yoga, vitamins, etc. But it didn't seem like clinical trials were much of a focus. T...
