Though guidelines suggest screening starts at 50, researcher says it's premature to change them
I am coming up on 2 years since my whipple on April 27 and I have been taking ppi's since than. I was told by my gi doc to stop and I tried and got stomach pains and nausea.
I have been on them since than and I just saw a new integrative medicince doc and she too says to get off them. They have bad long term side effects and interact with the enzymes.
DOes anyone have any experience with these? Have you tried to st...
Hi, my surgeon was dr. Jarnigan and my whipple was April 2011. He is the chief of hepatic biliary surgery and he saved my life. I doing great back to work full time gained back 20+ pounds. Sloan is one of thevbest.
Had whipple 4/11 and did well. Have digestive issues and had pains under rib cage that have gone away.
For the last 3-4 days I have developed a pain in the middle and upper abdomen that feels like it is pulling. Last night an hour after supper the pain was bad and felt like I was being strangled.
I have read others who says this is a whipple pain but this is a new symptom for me. I called the oncologists office and...
It is 1 year since my whipple for pc and for the most part I feel good. I had a scan in March which was clean and will have my next in July.
For the last several days I have a dull ache in the abdoman that comes and goes. I have been eating nuts, raisans, and dried fruit and maybe this is the cause.
Did anyone who had the whipple get these new pains soon after surgery. My digestion seems to be my biggest problem an...
I read your post and thanks for the update. I am 1 year out from the whipple and cancer free now. Can I still call if I am not getting treatment and are NED?
I was sick for many years with abdominal pain and had endoscopies, colonoscopies and blood work and told it was gastritis, and IBS by my gastro doctor who has been my doctor for over 20 years.
I became sick last March again with diarhea for 6 weeks. Had tests again and nothing found. It wasn't until I became jaundiced because the tumor was blocking the bile duct, had dark urine, itched and had clay colored stools th...
I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary for pc. Had the whipple last April and I am doing great-NED after first scan. I have two friends who are older than me and are both very ill from this disease. I found out yesterday that one of them was told that there was nothing more they could do for her and the chemo was not working. The other had a recurrence 2 months after stopping chemo and radiation and has had one prob...
I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary from the whipple surgery for pc. I consider myself very lucky and that I have won the battle already since I was able to have the surgery. My cancer was caught early because I became jaundiced, itched, and had the usual symptoms when a tumor is blocking the bile duct. There was no lymph node envolvement and no mets but, I had 6 months of chemo as recommended by my su...
Wow....I know how you must be feeling now and happy that you don't have pc but you will get through this.
I was a 50 year old nurse, very active, in great physical shape, worked out with a trainer 2 times a weeks and ate healthy; so this was a total suprise for me.
I was fortunate enough that my cancer was caught early because I become jaundiced and symptomatic. My surgery was done at Sloan in NYC by a surgeon who ...
So sorry to hear of Rick's passing. My prayers go out to his family. He was truly an inspiration to all of us who are fighting this battle.
May he rest in peace, and I know God has another angel in heaven now.
I am a 50 year old nurse who has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I would like information about the Whipple procedure.
