I was diagnosed in Sept. w/a squamous tumor on the (left) tonsil, my oncologist prescribed radiation (6 weeks, Monday thru Friday) and chemo (Cisplatin) once a week. Read my post up above on that... Anyway, Rad. ended 2 weeks ago, my throat/mouth/tounge are getting better, I have started to drink something other than water (apple juice) and trying to build up my stomach - I forgot to mention I have a J-Tube and take...

I was on cisplatin for two treatments - when I came in for the third (concurrent with radiation) my blood work was through the floor and they suspended the chemo altogether (also put me in the hospital for 10 days so I could recover - platelets, nromally around 165,000, were under 30,000, and so on down the line). I also was given Emend, cost $400 for one 3-pill treatment at CVS. I live on the border with Mexico, was...

Thank you all for your help; just to bring you up to date, I'm three weeks into treatment, radiation daily through Oct. 26 and chemo (cisplatin) once a week through the 15th; my main problem right now is loss of appetite, difficulty swallowing, constipation and tiredness during the day (need a 3-hour nap) and waking up at 3-4 AM and not being able to get back to sleep. These things add to my wife's stress (what to co...

I was diagnosed with plasmacytoma about 3 years ago, eventually reclassified as multiple myeloma; I've been in treatment (radiation and oral chemo) since and it's in remission. Now I've developed a squamous tumor on the tonsil and am going in for more radiation and chemo (intravenous this time), and I'm wondering how common is it for 2 different types of cancer to arise in the same body? I also suppose the blood mark...

Background: I was diagnosed with plasmacytoma about 4 years ago which necessitated a hip replacement and radiotherapy (if memory serves, about 12 sessions over 6 weeks). After a few months it cropped up elsewhere (ribs) leading to another series; and it eventuallt attacked my other leg, weakened the femur and it broke one day whenI slipped. That led to a pin being inserted and more radio, and my oncologist prescribed...

                    Patient
                    Multiple Myeloma, Squamous Cell Cancer

I'm Latino background, 61 years old, married (happily but stressed at the moment). Diagnosed 3 years ago with plasmacytoma, had hip replacement; 6 months later it recurred elsewhere and was reclassified as multiple myeloma, had surgery on other leg. 3 months ago detected a growth in my throat, turned out to be squamous tumor of the tonsil (HPV origin according to biopsy)and am in treatment, radiation and chemo.
