hi anna lilia... well, i havent posted in this page a looong time ago, but ur story looks a bit like ours... my husband was diagnosed 22 month ago... on his 33rd birthday. stage 4 colon cancer with a loooooooooot mets to liver , he had good response to his first cycle of chemo, his 2nd cycle of chemo wasnt that good because his platelets level decreased so he couldnt take full doses... the he had intra arterial chem...
sorry im not being able to participate much often but i keep on readin all yout posts... well, i would like to tell you more about how well the intra arterial chemo emb went for my husband.... well no doubt its a very strong procedure. robert had 20 sessions of chemo and none left him tired like this one!! next wednesday we will finish a month after the dc beads, his feet are very swollen, and if he gets a litte cold...
lochan Hi jinane , life's tough , my husband had done 5 sessions of folfiri after. 12 sessions of folfox but now his pain level has shot up , new mets in pelvic region , he is on morphine , fentanyl patches and duphalc but the pain is unbearable , we seem to be running out of options .... It's sad ,as he has been fighting this since almost 3 years , liver mets have sized down but new problem has made docs stop chemo .
in 2 weeks he will get a scan to check the progress and according to the scan they will decide wether he will get a 2nd session of intra arteriel chemo embolization or an operation for the liver
yes sandy he is on lactulose...duphalac. but still he feels pain,his stomach and back hurt...swets a lot...difficulty breathing and lately insomnia... very difficult procedure
hi eyes were extremely yellow ,aftet z chemo emb, now they are lighter...he slept for 10 days, maybe 2 days ago he was able to get up and go out.. he gets hot flushes and swet a lot, his ammonia levels went high, which is normal aftet chemo emb, so he wasnt conscious a lot,he woke up during night thinkin he was on an airplane.... i freaked out... i felt NOW that wer dealing with cancer...i only wish he becomes better...

sir sphere is of course the best solution, but not every patient with liver metastasis is a good candidate for sir sphere...the doc said that fir us dc beads are the best option... hoping it would help.
and of course the colon as well because he didnt have it removed from the colon yet. but we have had dc beads for 3 days now and my husband is in great pain,continuous hiccups, no food just water...hjs back hurts,his stomach as well... doc said this is normal bcs he got a very big quantity of medications... thats it any help??
hi oakville, im so happy t know abt your story... i wish my husband can make it that far... well i would like to update my husband's condition, on wednesday we had the DC Beads with doxorubine...the procedure went well, they injected a big quantity of the medication in the right lobe of the liver, and 10 % in the left lobe...the doctor was pleased with how the procedure went.and because he was able to inject medicat...
on feb 14th 2011(ya on valentine day and 1 day before his 34th bday) my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer metastasis liver...we are full with hope and faith to win...
