Thank you so much for letting me know this.  I am so up in the air about doing this that it is driving me crazy.  I've had so much go wrong already that I'm always thinking the worse.  It is so refreshing to hear you are doing good for 9 years now? I hope this is the case! Thank you again and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Karen

Thank you for your response.  I just am so afraid to have the wafers.  My surgeon says he uses them but another surgeon said he would never use them because the risks outweigh the benefits.  I am so confused on what to do.  I will go the the websites you mentioned.  Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.  I asked my dr. about them again yesterday and he told me that he was in on the trial of the wafers about 10 years ago and he has had only one person get an infection.  I forgot to ask him about the delayed wound healing but I will.  Now I'm really freaked out because I keep reading the same things that you just said. Thank you............. Karen

Hi everyone, I'm having surgery in a few weeks and was trying to find out some info on the gliadel wafers that are implanted in your brain at the same time of the removal of your tumor.  I keep reading about the side effects and am very afraid to get them now.  They contain the chemo drug BCNU.  Any comments would help tremendously.  Thank you. Karen

I was diagnosed about 8 yrs. ago with a low grade tumor, oligodendroglioma.  Still alive!  I've taken temodar, chemo drug, pill form.  It helped me for awhile and then I had radiation, now it's back so I'm going to do surgery.  Have you not gone to an oncologist or neurosurgeon?  There are lots of options for her and she should do very well.  Please take care and have hope! Karen

Hi Denise, I had such a bad rash after my first month of Temodar it just about drove me nuts.  My dr. prescribed dexamethasone, the steriod.  I took it the day before I started the Temoda, during, and the day after the last dose.  It helped tremendously, I never had the rash or itching again. Take Care, Karen

Hi Everyone: I've had an oligodendroglioma for about 9 years now.  I've had Temodar, and radiation.  The last round of Temodar gave me ITP and my platelets went down to 1, it was a nightmare.  So I did radiation last summer.  In January of 2014 my oligo started to show up again on my MRI in the right frontal lobe and has progressed slowly all year.  I'm now going to get surgery to try and re...

Hi Everyone, I've had radiation, temodar (2x) and now I might have to take Procarbazine w/CCNU.  Can I get some feedback on the Procarbzine w/CCNU in comparison to the temodar?  I'm reading about it but it sounds pretty scary to me since I've had a bout with ITP, (low platelets) which hospitalized me.  I'm also on a blood thinner now.  I'm really starting to get depressed whereas I just want to g...

My problem was that I got soooo many lumps and was completely black and blue every time I gave myself a shot.  The lumps took weeks to go away and so did the bruises so I was running out of places to do the injection. I didn't really have alot of pain with the shot, it was the bruising. My dr. told me that the shots do work better but I really needed to do something different.  I'm glad for y...

My doctors tell me that I have a low-grade glioma that I've had for about 5 years now and it's starting to spread so I'm getting a biopsy in a few weeks. He also told me that I would have radiation for about 5 weeks. I'm afraid it's going to effect by thinking and other things.
