Thanks for the information. Your problem seems much like mine as is the advice you have received.  I guess we have to be grateful for being survivors  and make the best of it.  I really think it is caused by scar tissue at the join or surface nerves in that area but corrective surgery would probably not be worth the risk.  Good luck to you and have a Happy New Year.

Post Ivor Lewis surgery- took me three years plus for appetite to return but now only light eater due to partial stomach removal which is understandable. My problem remains with severe and prolonged coughing spasms when food passing through what I describe as the "join area".  Possibly scar tissue or surfaced nerves. Tried dilution which did not help. Endoscopy does not show any obvious problem.  Good ...

Anybody have any experience or knowledge of "metastic sebaceous carcinoma"?  Have friend who had primary optical situation which was surgically removed 12 months ago. No follow up petscan.  Recently after considerable abdominable pain scans showed a secondary tumor had developed between pancreas and liver.  Too large for surgery, chemo failed to reduce size and now preparing for radium treatment to try...

Post SCT readings fell quickly to 600 and 0.2. No treatment for months then tests showed the KLC and AP creeping up.  3 c...

had the esophagectomy four years ago.  It was successful with time but I have had ongoing problems with frequent and severe coughing spasms associated with the passage of food through the "join section".  Possibly there are surface nerves or scar tissued causing this.   My specialists don't seem to have an answer.  Endoscopy does not show any identifiable cause.  Does anyone know o...

              After Treatment, Side Effects

I had Ivor Lewis esophagectomy four years ago at age 67. Developed from Barrets. It was successful but I have had complications with regular and severe coughing spasms associated with the passage of food through the "join area" possibly surface nerves or nerve scar tissue. My gastroentologist does not seem to have the answer.
