Well I just finished the 7wk that my doc recommended.  My face and neck are horribly red.  Painful especially if I let it dry out... and red well I think blood red would be more discriptive.  There are area's that have scabbed but usually wash off or fall off when I use Eucerin lotion.  I also had to use it on my lips that has left me now with these opaque yellow masses that partially shed or at time come of in the morning as I clean my lips of the soft coverings. I am not sure if this is the reaction still happening and for how long?  My face if marked extensively around the cheeks, nose and my neck is all red with light scabbing in extended areas.  I am using the eucerin cream and lotion as it soothes the pain and itching as it drys out.  The worst is after a shower.  Its hard to believe this is all great, trusting in the docs.

Is there a timetable on recovery, what do you recommend during this time, except stay out of the sun!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Yes it is a horrible process but if it works as everyone says then it beats the surgery route.  I am on wk 6 and will see the doc on friday.  Let me know what yours said please.... I am really red under the scabs worries me a bit.

But the doc said he wouldnt see me till the end of the week.  I have to use some eurcerin lotion in the daytime just to function

all my best in christ

HI there

I was diagnosed with ALL PH+ on Oct 16th 2003, Had a allogeneic stem cell transplant On march 23 2004.  I am still on some anti-rejection meds as well as a plethera of others, but the GVHD is under control, using photophoresis. So to be abit on the proactive side and after having 3 surgery's for SCC in the last year my derm decided to go the 5FU route.

I am now on day 22 and am really miserable, I started putting the efudex on 2 times daily on just the AK's and the surgery sites, but that has changed as the surrounding areas showed activity.  In that case the doc wanted me to put it there, and after a week well there was alot to cover day and night.  I am glad for the forum as I see that I am experiencing the norm.  The dryness and stinging I thought was just part of the process and my doc doesnt even want to see me till after the 6 wk process.  It is hard to believe that this is all good when it hurts so much.  He did not say to use any vaseline, aguaphor or eucerin cream, but I see from the posts that it is commonly used after a 2hr waiting period and then to clean the area prior to an additional treatment.  I also dont get much sleep since I get woken up when turning and rubbing my face (sides) or neck on the pillow.. any thoughts here?  also does anyone's eyes burn at time and the eyelids itch?   I guess that is enough for now.. thanks
