  Hi,  My mother did not benefit from sutent- the cancer grew in spite of it. She had just started Torisel and it seemed to be working before she passed. I wish we'd tried that one first.

  This WAS 'it' for my mother. She died yesterday, Oct. 15, at 1 pm. We got a call at 7:30 am that she went into respiratory distress... her breathing had been labored at 9:30 pm the night before when I was up there, and she was only responsive to pain.   Well, after a short round of sutent, her tumors grew. We took her to a different oncologist group and now she's on Torisel, once a week. She needed a transfusion before the first, but not the second.   Thank you for your reply! Right now, mom is on torisel, she'll take her third dose this Thursday. We're taking her to the place she had her radiation, an hour from home. She's still so weak. She won't eat, because everything tastes like metal. My sister gives her most of her care, since they live together. She's not in pain, but she can walk with assistance only.   Hi, My mother was diagnosed with stage IV in July, had sutent and radiation in August, and then she was told by her oncologist to pack it in, the tumors grew by 20% and she's got 3-6 months left.   Thank you, Marcy! No, she is just seeing an oncologist, the only one in our hospital. We're about 2 hrs from all the major hospitals (although ours is a stroke center) and one hour from a cancer center... she's going back to that one next week for more information!  We are not giving up and accepting anything along those lines yet.
