I just had 8 Lymph nodes biopsied and they did no medication or numbing. I hurt when they did it but it only lasted a few minutes. After it some where tender like a bruse but not bad. You will be fine. Hoping and Praying for you that you receive only good news.

I am probably the worst person to reply because I am that random person who had it come back after 23 years. And I am currently going through the same thing you are except in my lymph nodes which of course swell up for other reasons. I am constantly having that moment of panic when one swells up. But I have learned to deal with it by reminding myself
1.Thyroid cancer is truely very slow growing.
2.Even if it is the...

I had thyroid cancer at a very young age (14) and have been taking thyroid medication for 28 years now and I have never heard anything about getting atrial fibrillation from it.

I would recommend you do whatever is allowed in Canada to get them to give you the treatment you need. I had thyroid cancer in 1984 and had my entire thyroid removed in1985 at at 14. At the time it was not well known to non-specialist that you should still do follow-up after removing the entire thyroid so other than monitoring my thyroid levels I had no follow-up at all. 23 years later I have thyroid ca...

Sorry this is so scary for you.
I had my thyroid removed in 1985 and then had a reocurrence in 2009. I had 21 nodes removed followed by radiation. I have done a recheck every three months up until August of this year when they finally had a zero reading and decided we can switch to yearly rechecks. With all of those initial test and rechecks I did thyrogen shots and never had a problem.
My understanding is that sid...

The side effects of one RAI treatment are very minimal and would increase the chances of patients not having a recurrence. I agree with charlie3 "better safe t...

I first had thyroid cancer when I was 14 and had my thyroid removed in Jan. 1985. In Sept. 2008 I became very ill and after test was told that the cancer was back. Since then I have had 21 lymph-nodes and one salivary gland remove and completed one round of RAI treatment. My test are still not getting a zero reading but are not high enough to treat so I am in a holding pattern right now.
