I just had to respond as I remember being in your position 7 months ago. Ivor lewis in Sept 2012. When my husband got home he was on a feeding tube.He could only eat about 2 tablespoons of cream soup and that took him an hour. this went on for a few weeks.Smoothies I made kept him going for a few more weeks then 1 month out it was pureed food about a custard cup full. 2 months out starting to eat squash, mashed carro...

was having the Ivor Lewis surgery an option for you at the time?
It is the scarriest thing we have ever had to go through. You have so much courage to in that you continue to live life to the fullest.

The recovery is long and slow but stay with it do what ever it takes to get him to eat....Does he still have a feeding tube into the Jujenum? At seven weeks my husband could only eat maybe a cup of soup at a time and it took a long time perhaps an hour and I made him ice cream frappes and smoothies with lots of calories. He could eat grits with cheese that melted in it for high calories.

There is also "Marinol".This is pill form marijuana that can be prescribed by any Dr anywhere.That helped my husband with appetite and nausea.

Husband is 6 months post Ivor Lewis.He is going for his 3rd throat stretch on Mar 20.Does this also get better. If the throat is stretched and is good for awhile what stops it from constricting again?Actually he has been eating everything, steak etc and regular size meals.Then a week ago swalowing seemed to be difficult again.He is discouraged.

occassonaly my husband 6 months out has ocassionalpain. usually down in his intestine were the Jtube was but it passes.No Other pain, He has gone to an accurapuncurist twice ti clean the energy path ways and he swears by the help it gave him
