I am sorry have not been very active here lately.

My father was diagnosed on Feb 6th, 2012 with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It had spread to his liver, but no where else at the time of diagnosis. he started gemzar, and then went to a combo of gemza rweekly and tarceva daily. He stayed on this treatment for about 4 months, with no resu...

Praying that it will work for you. Please keep us posted on your results. My father will be starting a trial the first of Nov. We hope and pray it will be "the chemo" that will work for him.

My father has stage 4, with large mets to the liver. His recent CT scan showed the liver is nearly overcome with the cancer, and it is invading his main artery. It is also in his lymp nodes. He has tried gemzar, tarceva, and FU5. Nothing worked! Now what do we do? His dr said he has done all he could, and is going to try to find a trial for him, but that his liver is probably to bad for that.
What now?? I'm not read...

My father was seen at the Mayo clinic in FL, he had surgery to re route his stomach so he could hold down food. The tumor in the pancreas had pressed his stomach completly closed. He is doing wonderful, except he is not able to do chemo for 4 weeks or so. He has had 1 round of the -F-U5, and did "ok" with it, but was so sick from not eating for 3 weeks.
Now to my question, the mayo drs told him he would have about 4...

He went to the mayo and they agreed to do surgery to open his stomach and bowel back up. (the tumor from the pancreas had pressed against the lower part of the stomach causing a 100% blockage, not letting ANY food or liquid to leave his stomach, he would throw up ...

my father just stopped using gemzar. He got it once a week for 3 weeks, then an off week. He had been taking it since feb. He was like you he felt great the day of treatment and usually the day or two before his treatment. He was always very tired on days 2-4 after his treatment. He never said it got better, but he learned to expect the tired days.
He has just started a new chemo, so we are having to learn its side ...

You are not alone. I remember the week we found out my father had "something on his pancreas" It was a very long, scary time for us all. Test showed it was stage 4 pancreatic cancer. This was in Feb of this year, he is still fighting it. Please feel free to talk on here, it has been such a blessing to me. Praying for you!
