Are you on Sutent for a different RCC drug? I think anybody who is on chemo therapy drugs would love to share how they address how they address their side effects but we would need to be more information about your situation to help. Charlie

John, Sorry to hear about your lung tumor growing.  My 4 lung tumors have reacted really well to Sutent possibly due to mine having Sarcomotoid properties.  I heard somewhere that Sutent reacts better on tumors which are more like sarcomos.  Double edge sword though as Scarmotoid properties mean my tumors are more aggressive and faster growing when the Sutent stops working. I have heard good things a...

Thanks Cheryl, Thank God I have not gotton to the point of open sores.  Only rough dry spots and the kind of pain on the ball of the foot behind the toes and on the sides that feels like you are either walking on a giant blood blister, or like parts of your foot are a giant stone-bruise.  I described it as feeling like you ran a marathon, in bare feet, on a gravel road. I think the moisture from the BagBa...

What I have to share will not work for everyone, but if you are paying for your own Health Insurance (Mine is Blue Cross of Ca.) and you have a high deductable (Mine is over $8000/yr), and you are on a Sutent regiment, check out these tricks. 1)  BLOOD TESTS EVERY CYCLE - Where you get your blood drawn makes a big difference on how much you have to pay.  Hospitals/Cancer centers are the worst (Price wise)....

I wanted to give the Australian Dream cream a good test.  I found that it does provide quick relief of foot pain when applied but overnight it appears to cause some drying of the skin.  Since drying, cracking and bleedling of the feet is what I am trying to avoid (serious mobility issues they create), I have returned to using BagBalm on my feet daily. Bagbalm, applied liberally, then covered with a decent ...

Grazel,  My heart goes out to you. My Sunitinib (Sutent) is provided through my private insurance but still costs me around $1000 USD a year.  Without insurance, I have heard it would have cost almost $9000 for a 28 day supply. Sunitinib is made by Pfizer labs.  Sometimes the supplier of these types of drugs have programs to provide the drug to those who can not afford or get it by other means. If I...

Bill, Yes....my RCC has the sarcomatoid properties although I do not know where on any scale I fall. Most side effects become pretty predictable over time.  For me on 4 weeks on and week 5-6 off, I find my best weeks are weeks 1 and 2 when I first start the drug.  I try and plan most of my bucket list trips during those weeks.  SE's usually start on week 3 and peak around the end of week 4 although m...

I just saw an ad on TV about a product called Australian dream. It is an over-the-counter topical cream used primarily for arthritis relief but I read up on it and it is a vaso-dialator which might counteract the painful affects caused by Sutent being a vaso-constrictor. I'm going to try it on my feet tonight for my foot pain and see if it works. Apparently they sell it at Walgreens drugstore. I will post of the ...

For men to not be able to urinate after surgery is very very normal. After I had my kidney remoned, it took over a month before I was totally back to normal. Tell your husband to be patient and I'm sure it'll all work out fine. Im male, 58 yrs old, 6'5" and 300 lbs. Good luck. Charlie

THANK YOU DONSMRS! I will try the cream/massage and look into Claritin.  Both sound like great ideas. You sound like a very dedicated soldier in your partners war on cancer, much like my wife is to me.  You are to be commended! Thanks again, Charlie
