        Hi, I only just joined this forum. My brother's anal cancer has advanced to the stage where he now has a cavernous hole in his buttocks. It is very large and he has to have this wound cleaned and packed every 2 days. He does have an odor but part of his wound care is we have a pill which we crush into the wound packing materials and this helps eliminate the odor.           Oh I am sorry to hear the news of your dad and now your husband. My heart goes out to you.. Yes it's a damned awful disease.. The emphysema diagnosis shocked us as he had collasped lung just 2 months ago and no mention made of it. Yes you are right the hardest part is watching someone go thru cancer and you can't do a thing about the pain. I sincerely wish you all the best...

            Hey Deb, dont' knock yourself for now knowing. She may not have wanted to bother you as you went through your own cancer battle. Or she just may have been very private and it was never in her nature to discuss things like this. My brother is bit like your friend Pat in that he is very quiet and he has terminal cancer.
