Jules,  Thanks for the comment. My mother passed away recently and I can understand the desire to look back and wonder what could have been if we had access or known about this treatment. Please don't do that to yourself. I know you did everything you could to give your husband the best care and opportunity for survival following his diagnosis. And prior to that, you should comfort yourself kn knowing that yo...

Dear J., Your dad is a couragous and blessed man. I'm grateful that you took the time to share his story. You've given me inspiration and a sense of hope that in this time of trial and despair, my father will continue on and find a new life with his family and in promoting good works. It'll never be the same without mom at his side but that's okay, he has to live for himself. Thank you again and I wish your family ...

I noticed messagers here about Novocure and NovoTTF. For those of you who aren't familiar with the treatment, I would recommend that you watch this TED talk that was recently posted: http://www.ted.com/talks/bill_doyle_treating_cancer_with_electric_fields.html If you or a loved one is looking for treatment or dealing with a recurrance, ask the oncologist about Novocure. By the way, I recently lost my mother to GBM...

Thanks for the detailed, thoughtful response. I want to take your advice but I feel such great anxiety in allowing my father to sit idly and then become depressed. I also need to understand that this is part of a difficult process and that it's natural for him to reflect on his 40 years of marriage. I was hoping that some kind of vocation or hobby -- whether it's volunteering, teaching, or crafts -- would give him ...

My father is 65, lives in Austin, and recently retired after his wife (my mother) passed away following a year-long battle with brain cancer. I am trying hard to encourage my father to seek out an encore career and seek out new passions. I feel like there are many others in his position who can offer advice and friendship. Are there any caregivers out there in a similar position?  I'd appreciate any suggestio...

Pasquale Bruno was a freelance critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. In this recent Washington Post article he describes his experience with GBM since being diagnosed in Dec 2009. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/brain- I'm amazed at how well he's doing given how long he has been on treatment and his age. Your thoughts?...

For all those in the Houston area:

I'm really interested in setting up a casual face-to-face gathering for many of you that are local. I'd love to meet you in person and hear about your experiences.

I was thinking of setting up something in early October.

Post your thoughts or message me directly if you're interested in helping coordinate this.

                    Thanks!
                    Bilaal

I've found a couple of helpful websites of people documenting their (or a loved one's) experience with GBM online: http://www.jerrykline.net/ http://www.brainhospice.com/ I would be interested to know if there are any personal websites you've checked for inspiration and guidance....

My mother was diagnosed with GBM on September 2010. She had undergone a tumor resection (right occipital lobe) and followed up with radiation and chemotherapy (temodar).

I'm interested in using this forum as an opportunity to share our experience, lend support, and help the many other patients, caregivers, and supporters who participate.

We received treatment at MD Anderson by Dr Charles Conrad and then received care from Houston Hospice.
