I was diagnosed in May 2010 with stomach cancer. Prior to the diagnosis I had been treating my symptoms as acid reflux. Each medication I tried would help the problem for awhile but it never lasted very long. So I finally went in for a GI and that's when they found a mass in my stomach. Surgery for me wasn't an option it was a definite. The mass had practically taken over and was in stage 3 to 4. I had 3 rounds of chemo and also had to wear a chemo bag daily(lucy)with weekends off only. I did that for 3 months then on Oct 22, 2010 I had my entire stomach removed. After finally recovering from that I started another round of chemo with lucy also. I must admit the second round of chemo because I was still so weak from surgery was so so hard for me. My last chemo treatment was in April and I was given a clean bill of health in May 2011. Since then I've been trying to gain my health, strength and weight. Adjusting to not having a stomach has been the biggest challenge, but I'm certainly up for it!!This journey has enlighten me like no other journey I've encountered. The simple and minute things mean so much more to me...Lesson I've learned is love the life you're living, you may not have the house, car, job, money etc that you want but...YOU ARE ALIVE!!
